TRANSITION/DEATH ANNOUNCEMENT of Winnie Waithira Kimani
With sorrow yet with gratitude to God, we announce the death of Winnie Waithira Kimani who passed away suddenly on Monday, 1/30/2017 at Nairobi Hospital. Winnie was a daughter to the late Mr. James Kimani Watenga and Mrs. Joyce Njeri Watenga. She was born at Karatu in Ndarugu, Gatundu Division, Kiambu. She was a sister to Irene Nungari Muchira of Geneva, Switzerland, Nelly Wanjiru Kinyanjui of Nairobi and Kenneth Watenga Kimani of Westfield, MA (USA) and the late Paul Ndumbi Kimani. She was also a sister in law to James Muchira (Geneva, Switzerland), George Kinyanjui (Nairobi) and Jane Nyambura Paul (Kenya).
Winnie was trained as a teacher at Kagumo College after her Primary education at Ndarugu Primary, Highschool at Karoti Girls and A Level at Moi Nairobi Girls. She was a teacher at Mururia High school and later at Nile Rd Secondary School where she taught special education students. Winnie accepted Christ as Lord in her youth and was a dedicated member of both her home church, PCEA Ndarugu and PCEA Bahati (Nairobi). She was baptized as an infant by the late Rev. Samuel Marima.
Prayers are being held daily at 111 Hawks Circle, Westfield, MA from 6-8 pm. A memorial service will be held at the same place on Sunday, 2/5/2017 at 5 pm. She will be buried at her father’s farm (Karatu, Ndarugu) on Wednesday, 02/08/2017 after a Funeral Service at PCEA Ndarugu Church. Her family in the US will be traveling for that purpose. Winnie was 55 when the Lord called her to glory.
