Uhuru prevails upon Kiunjuri not to run for Laikipia governor
President Uhuru Kenyatta has prevailed upon Devolution CS Mwangi Kiunjuri not to run for Laikipia governor.
Speaking in Nanyuki town on Saturday evening, he said he needs Kiunjuri to help him run the country effectively if reelected.
“Please, people of Laikipia, I urge you to release Kiunjuri to work for the country because it needs him. I want to be surrounded by strong people during my next term as the President,” Uhuru said.
Kiunjuri, a former MP, had said he would announce whether he will run after February 8.
When asked for their opinion, the crowd said Kiunjuri should do as Uhuru asks. Kiunjuri said, “People are telling me to come back to the ground.
What should I tell the President?”
Governor aspirants will be delighted to hear Kiunjuri is not in the race.
The president said governors had a lot of money allocated by the national government but were misusing the money.
