Kenyan Woman Shares Reality of Her First Month Living in the US

Kenyan national Beldina Kirito has shared her experience of spending her first month in the United States, describing the period as both exciting and challenging as she adjusted to life in a new country.
Kirito said her first weeks were largely spent learning how different systems operate in the US. She had to navigate banking procedures, health insurance requirements and other administrative processes, each of which required time and careful attention.
One of the most significant adjustments involved driving. Having learned to drive on the left side of the road in Kenya, Kirito had to adapt to the right-hand traffic system used in the US. She said the transition demanded focus and practice, turning a routine activity into a daily challenge.
Kirito also spoke about the emotional aspects of relocation. She said homesickness was part of the experience as she adjusted to living far from family, friends and familiar surroundings. Despite these difficulties, she viewed the challenges as opportunities to build independence and adapt to a new way of life.
