DPP Announces 388 Jobs with up to Ksh320K Salary – How to Apply

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has called for applications for 388 jobs whose salaries range from Ksh21,000 to Ksh320,000 depending on the level ranging from entry-level to senior management positions.

All candidates are required to submit their applications by Wednesday, June 2, and will be on a permanent and pensionable basis.

Interested parties are required to complete the applications by downloading the forms from www.odpp.go.ke or picking them from the DPP’s head office in Nairobi or in respective county offices.

Among the documents to be attached in the forms include National Identity card, Academic and professional certificates, letter of appointment to their current post, detailed Curriculum Vitae, original transcripts, and testimonials.

All candidates who are not ODPP staff are required to attach copies of valid clearance certificates from the following offices: Higher Education and Loans Board (HELB), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) or any other professional bodies to which the candidate is a member.

Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions – 4 positions 

Basic salary scale: Ksh321,453- Ksh232,687

Duties: To develop and oversee the implementation of departmental work plans and ensure ODPP strategic plans are implemented. He/she will establish and maintain effective legal processes to ensure timely delivery of services.

Requirements: Admission as an advocate of High Court of Kenya, cumulative 18 years experience from the date of admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, or have served three years at the level of Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions.
-Bachelor of Laws degree from a recognized university.
-Postgraduate Diploma in Legal studies from the Council of Legal Education.

Basic Salary scale: Ksh252,500- Ksh181,000

Duties: To advise the Government ministries on matters regarding criminal law within the counties, oversee the implementation of the county offices’ work plans in adherence to the ODPP objectives.

Requirements: Cumulative 15 years experience from the date of admission as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya or have served for two years at the level of Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions.
-Bachelor of Laws degree from a recognized university.
-Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies from the Council of Legal Education, be a member of a recognized professional body.

Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions  – 10 positions

Basic salary scale: Ksh205,000-Ksh154,654

Duties: To review legislation, legal documents, opinions, and briefs to determine the responsibility of ODPP on various issues in order to reduce the exposure to legal risks, conduct prosecutions in line with the set policies, procedures, and laws to ensure the rulings delivered meet quality standards,

Requirements: Cumulative 13 years experience from the date of admission as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya or have served two years at the level of Senior Principal Prosecution Counsel.
-Bachelor of Laws degree from a recognized university
-Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies from the Council of Legal Education

Senior Principal Prosecution Counsel – 38 positions

Basic salary scale: Ksh179,334-Ksh135,410

Duties: Give direction on investigation files and undertake criminal prosecutions in a timely manner, to study and evaluate case files presented and decide whether to prosecute.

Responsibilities: possession of a master’s degree in law or any other social science from a recognized university.

-Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies from the Council of Legal Education

Principal Prosecution Counsel – 5 positions

Basic salary: Ksh135,0000 – Ksh100,000

Duties: undertake or discontinue prosecutions on assigned cases to ensure justice is delivered timely, prepare court documents and argue applications and petitions, prepare briefs on different legal cases to ensure they meet quality standards, supervise senior prosecution counsel deployed to serve under them

Requirements: possession of a master’s degree in law or any other social science from a recognized university.
Cumulative seven years experience from the date of admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya or have served two years at the level of Principal Prosecution Counsel.
-Bachelor of Laws degree from a recognized university
-Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies from the Council of Legal Education

Senior Prosecution Counsel -62 positions

Basic salary: Ksh125,460- Ksh92,277

Duties: Prepare preliminary legal documents and briefs in line with the ODPP standards, undertake prosecutions, represent the state in appeals filed in court to ensure delivery of a just ruling.

Requirements:  Cumulative six years experience from the date of admission as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya or have served three years at the level of Prosecution Counsel.
-Bachelor of Laws degree from a recognized university
-Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies from the Council of Legal Education

Senior Records Management Officer- 3 positions

Basic Salary: Ksh117,905-Ksh85,388

Duties: Manage all files and reports in various departments within the ODPP.

Requirements: Served in the grade of Records Management Officer or in a relevant position in the Public Service for a minimum period of two years.
-Bachelors Degree in Information Science/ Records Management or relevant social sciences from a recognized institution
-Attended a supervisory course lasting not less than two weeks from a recognized institution.

Senior Human Resource Management Officer – 3 positions

Basic Salary: Ksh117,905-Ksh85,388

Duties: Participate in the performance management system of the HR division and implement HR strategies derived from the ODPP strategic plan to ensure the deliverables of the strategies are met, develop job descriptions for submission to the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) for evaluation.

Requirements: 
-Served in the grade of Senior HR management officer or a relevant position in the wider Public Service for a minimum period of two years.
-Bachelors degree in either sociology, Public/ Business Administration, HR management, or any other relevant field
-Postgraduate Diploma in HR management from a recognized institution

Senior Economist /Statistician- 2 posts

Basic Salary: Ksh117,905- Ksh85,388

Duties: Guide the preparation of progress reports done on a quarterly, mid-term and annual basis, coordinate and oversee the development and implementation of performance management system for ODPP, development of departmental budgets to feed into the budget proposals.

Requirements:
Served for a cumulative number of seven years relevant experience,
Bachelors degree in any of the following fields: Economics, Statistics, Economics, and Mathematics, Economics and Statistics, Economics and Finance, or any other relevant field

Clerical Officer- 7 posts

Basic salary: Ksh46,721-Ksh21,950

Duties: Maintaining filing systems to avoid loss of office records, draft simple correspondences as advised, updating and maintenance of databases to ensure information is accurate, give feedback on issues to management on issues observed in the delivery of work.

Requirements: 
-KCSE mean grade C plain or equivalent from a recognized institution
-Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution

Other positions include prosecution counsel (105 posts), senior ICT officer, (four posts), senior administrative officer (11 posts), administrative officer (three posts), research officers (30 posts), driver (25 posts), office assistant (seven posts), information officer (two posts).

Senior Assistant Director Administration (two posts), Chief finance officer (one post), chief accountant (one post), Chief internal auditor (one post), senior assistant director records management (one post), assistant director supply chain management (one post), assistant director administration (one post), senior principal finance officer (one post), principal accountant (one post), librarian (one post), accountant (two posts), receptionist officer (two posts), officer assistant (seven posts).
