A student from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) main campus was killed by suspected thugs on Friday night.

Reports indicate that Tim Sydney Aomba had just alighted in Juja from Nairobi’s central business district and was headed to his apartment near the University when the thugs stabbed him to death.

Denver Cockey, a JKUAT student leader said the deceased was accosted and stabbed near the heart by the robbers, who probably wanted to steal items from him.

A witness told police that Tim was walking on a path between one of the apartments known as Skyline and the Coca Cola depot when he was ambushed.

“He took a path in between one of the apartments known as Skyline and the Coca Cola depot and that is where he was attacked.”

“After he was stabbed, he tried to run away but could not get far as he was bleeding profusely so he fell in front of a shop owned by some woman who paid a nearby boda boda rider to rush him to the JKUAT students’ hospital. Unfortunately, he had already lost too much blood by then and was declared dead on arrival,” a report by police said.

His body was taken to the Kenyatta University Morgue awaiting a post mortem set for Tuesday.

Tim played for his school’s American Football team, the JKUAT Sparrows and was also part of the Kenyan American Football Team.
