Police Allegedly Seize Miguna Miguna’s Car in Nairobi Ahead of His Return
Deported lawyer Miguna Miguna claims that his car was seized and detained by police officers in Nairobi on Saturday.
In a tweet addressed to Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) head George Kinoti, Miguna claimed that the vehicle was taken from Ferdinand Ogumah by heavily-armed Flying Squad officers on Saturday afternoon. He suspects the officers want to install surveillance devices ahead of his return to Kenya early next week.
“To @DCI_Kenya Kinoti: At around 12:30 PM today, 5 heavily-armed Flying Squad officers now calling themselves “Special Service Unit” ILLEGALLY SEIZED my vehicle from @FerdinandOgumah in Nairobi and detained it, most likely to install SURVEILLANCE DEVICES. Release my vehicle!” Miguna tweeted.
He added: “Mr. Kinoti: The heavily-armed men were not dressed in police uniform and were not using a marked @PoliceKE vehicle. The officer in charge was Khadija Sudi who gave his telephone number as 0723-930-634. They seized the vehicle on Zanzibar Road, South B, Nairobi.”
Miguna, who was deported to Canada two times in 2018, is expected to land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi on Tuesday, January 7th at 9 pm aboard Lufthansa flight LH590.
