This comes barely a day after police in Mumias, Kakamega County blocked two church functions that Deputy President William Ruto was to attend today over insecurity.

Shianda police boss Christopher Wesonga, said police declined to permit the events citing Covid-19 and security threats.

In a letter to the chairman of the steering committee of St Leo Catholic Church, Shianda, the OCS said no mass involving all 10 sub-parishes under Bumini will take place.

Ruto and his Tanga Tanga brigade were to preside over fundraisers at Indangalasia parish in Matungu and Bumini parish in Mumias East.
