ODM Issues Condition to Participate in the Presidential Debate: Raila Odinga Will Not Debate Mediocre Candidates
The Orange democratic Movement (ODM) has issued conditions to the organizers of the 2017 presidential debate.
The party’s Director of Elections and Suna East MP Junet Mohamed spelt out some demands for debate, saying that ODM and NASA expect its flag bearer Raila Odinga to only debate President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Junet said the opposition will not allow their candidate to be subjected to a debate with mediocre presidential candidates. “It is not about the right to be heard, this is a serious matter on how to run this country and it is not comedy,” said Junet.
Junet said that the other candidates who are seeking to unseat President Uhuru Kenyatta were not serious, and it would be silly to subject their candidate to a debate with them.
The Country’s highest political seat has attracted more than 15 presidential aspirants including the two front-runners, Uhuru Kenyatta of Jubilee and Raila Odinga of National Super Alliance (NASA).
The debates are scheduled on July 10 and July 24, 2017 ahead of the August poll.
