Kidero wants court to stop his accounts probe during Mumias tenure
Nairobi Governor, Dr. Evans Kidero, has moved to court seeking to stop the Capital Markets Authority from investigating his personal bank accounts during his tenure at Mumias Sugar Company.
Kidero alleges that the investigations by Capital Market Authority and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) constitute nothing but intimidation, political harassment using government agencies to humiliate and degrade him in the eyes of general public in violation of his rights.
He claims that the move is likely to depolarize him in the eyes of his voters.
Further he contends that there is an order in another case stopping the investigations of his personal bank accounts which the respondents are parties to.
He claims that the respondents have violated the Capital Markets Act and constitution in investigations of his personal bank accounts.
In a certificate of urgency, the Governor argues that unless the court stays the illegal investigations, he is going to suffer a violation of his constitutional rights.
