Kericho Man Found Living on Dubai Streets Flown Back to Kenya

Brian Kipkoech, a man from Kericho who had been living homeless on the streets of Dubai, is returning to Kenya after a coordinated rescue effort by Kenyans living in the United Arab Emirates.

He was scheduled to arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Thursday after boarding an Emirates flight from Dubai. Kipkoech had travelled to Dubai in search of work in the construction industry. He later became stranded in the Jebel Ali area without housing or support.

The circumstances surrounding his situation remain unclear, but videos circulating online showed him appearing weak and disoriented. The case became widely known after footage of Kipkoech was shared online by Levai Levisky Levinsky.

The videos prompted appeals from Kenyans in Dubai and local leaders in Kericho to help locate and assist him. Kapsoit MCA Paul Chirchir was among those who called for support from the Kenyan community in the UAE.

Efforts to assist Kipkoech involved several Kenyan volunteers based in Dubai. Gabriel, a Kenyan resident, secured Kipkoech’s passport and helped organise his travel arrangements alongside another volunteer, Lucy. The group also remained in contact with Kipkoech’s family in Kericho and assured his mother that he would return home safely.
