Kenyan Family in Massachusetts Left Homeless After Devastating Fire

A Kenyan family living in Lowell, Massachusetts, has been left homeless after a fire destroyed several homes in the Centraville neighbourhood on Tuesday afternoon.

Arthur Gituku, his wife and their children had moved into the area only a few months ago after securing what they described as their first permanent home in the United States. The fire spread through at least five adjoining properties before firefighters brought it under control.

Witnesses reported seeing large flames and thick smoke as emergency crews worked to stop the blaze from spreading further. Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the fire.

The Gituku family lost most of their belongings, including clothing, household items, important documents and personal possessions collected during their relocation. Friends close to the family said they had only recently begun settling into their new environment.

Members of the Kenyan community and local residents have since stepped in to assist the family. Neighbours have provided temporary shelter, food and clothing, while fundraising efforts have been organised to help them recover from the loss.

Organisers said financial support would help the family secure temporary accommodation, replace essential documents and manage insurance-related expenses. Donations are being sent to Arthur Gituku through Cash App using the handle $Arthurgituku or via the mobile number 987-221-0263.

The fire displaced several families in the neighbourhood and caused extensive damage to multiple properties. Community members continue to support those affected as recovery efforts begin.
