Kenyans in South Korea to Access Passport, Registration Services in Seoul

The Kenyan Embassy in Seoul is holding a three-day Mobile Consular Services programme from 10 to 12 July, offering passport, civil registration and certification services at its offices in Yongsan-gu.

The programme runs daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is intended to make essential consular services more accessible to Kenyans living in South Korea. Some services are also available to eligible foreign nationals. The embassy is providing passport applications and renewals, birth registration for children born abroad, police clearance certificates and certificates of no impediment to marriage.

Applicants seeking to renew their passports must present copies of their current passport, national identity card, a completed e-Citizen application form and proof of payment. Parents applying for a child’s passport are required to provide the child’s birth certificate together with identification documents for both parents.

Parents registering the birth of a child born in South Korea must submit a translated Korean birth certificate and copies of both parents’ identification documents. The service costs KRW 45,000.

Applicants requesting a police clearance certificate must provide copies of their passport and Alien Registration Card and pay a fee of KRW 30,000. Those applying for a certificate of no impediment to marriage must submit the required identification documents and supporting forms. The service costs KRW 150,000.

The embassy has advised applicants to arrive with all required documents and payment receipts to help ensure applications are processed without unnecessary delays. The programme forms part of the Kenyan government’s efforts to improve access to consular services for citizens living abroad and strengthen engagement with the diaspora.

For many Kenyans in South Korea, including students, professionals and researchers, the initiative reduces the need to travel elsewhere to complete official documentation and helps them meet legal and administrative requirements.
