Kenyan Entrepreneur Allan Njoroge Launches US Staffing Platform Hitting Sh129m in Five Months

Kenyan entrepreneur Allan Njoroge has launched ShiftNex, a digital staffing platform in the United States that connects healthcare workers with available shifts, reaching KSh 129 million in annual recurring revenue within five months.
Njoroge, who is from Eldoret, developed the platform to address persistent staffing shortages in the US healthcare system. ShiftNex enables nurses, caregivers, and doctors to access flexible work opportunities across hospitals and care facilities. More than 5,000 healthcare professionals across the country are already using the service.
Before founding ShiftNex, Njoroge established Actriv, a major healthcare staffing agency in Washington State. His experience in the sector informed the design of his new platform, which focuses on improving efficiency for both employers and workers.
Despite having no formal background in coding, Njoroge built ShiftNex using Lovable, an AI-powered application development platform. By outlining the system’s required features, he was able to generate the technical framework and launch the platform without traditional programming skills.
His work reflects a broader trend in which entrepreneurs use accessible technology to solve industry challenges. It also highlights the role of diaspora professionals in shaping global markets through innovation and practical solutions.
Online responses to Njoroge’s achievement have been mixed. Many have commended his determination and noted his early efforts to build the business from home. Others have raised concerns about the wider issue of skilled professionals leaving Kenya for opportunities abroad, while some have questioned aspects of the healthcare staffing sector.
ShiftNex continues to expand its reach by linking healthcare institutions with qualified professionals. The platform provides a flexible employment model while supporting staffing needs in a critical sector.
