Graft: Kenya Big shots seek out of court bargains
People have been attacking DPP and DCI saying it’s all arrests and no convictions.
Today during a tour of Kisumu to open the new Regional Office DPP Haji engaged media and also residents on Plea Bargaining and why it saves time and resources while ensuring more looted assets are returned.
He also noted that the wheels of justice are slow but eventually they grind fine so majority of those who opt for trial will eventually get convicted.
These bigfish would therefore not be asking for plea bargains if their cases were not solid.
It means they would rather plead guilty, pay fines and return looted cash/assets and spend a few months behind bars than wait for a conviction.
The reason I fully support DPP Haji, DCI Kinoti and EACC is that slowly by slowly it is starting to get into the psyche of ordinary Kenyans and public officials that it is no longer business as usual.
If we sustain this momentum for 10 years, we will have significantly reduced grand corruption.
Hongera DPP, DCI and EACC.
