Grace Nanyonga Mugisha was born on 8th October 1984 to the Late Anna Maria Nakisozi and Joseph Kazibwe . She is the second child out of seven and grew up in the outskirts of Banda Kireka. Orphaned at the age of twelve, Grace was left with the responsibility of taking care of her siblings after relatives sold off their property.Pic Photo Courtesy

Grace Nanyonga Mugisha has overcome insurmountable odds to be a phenomenal woman with tremendous social impact in Uganda. Find out more about her inspiring story including meeting Michelle Obama.
Grace who was orphaned at a tender age of 13 years began selling chicken by the road side in Uganda. Her hustle earned her the name ‘chicken girl’ among her peers. Grace is one of the many girls in Uganda that received comprehensive scholarship packages support from FAWE to pursue their education to the higher education level.
In 2012, Grace ‘spirit of business’ drove her to establishing a fish company dubbed ‘Grana Fish’ located in Mukono, Uganda. Grana Fish, is a fully registered SME in Uganda and currently supplies a wide range of fish products.
Grace is also one of the founding members of the FAWE Uganda Alumni Association, an affiliate of the larger FAWE Africa Association.The FAWE Africa Alumni network is an association of African young women and men who have benefited from the actions of FAWE at regional or national chapter level.
Through the alumni association, FAWE harnesses the intellectual and technical resource and energies of these young women and young men and utilises it to foster positive change to the social, cultural and economic context in which girls’ education is provided in Africa and inspire school girls and boys to remain focused on education.
