What Ruto Gave Nairobi Man After ‘Nyamachoma’ Feast
Details have emerged regarding what transpired when a man who recently had lunch with Deputy PresidentWilliam Ruto visited him at his Karen office.
On Tuesday, DP Ruto posted photographs after hosting a city resident whom he had earlier on enjoyed nyamachoma with, though the outcome of their meeting remained unknown.
Patrick Odanga, the man in question, has revealed that in the private meeting, the two discussed family issues and Ruto offered to help pay fees for his Form One daughter.
Mr Odanga also indicated that the DP gave him a heavy envelope which he said was meant to facilitate transport to see his family in Turbo, Uasin Gishu County.
The construction worker disclosed that he would keep the envelope sealed until he meets the wife.
Their relationship started on Friday when the DP visited Embakasi West constituency. Odanga caught Ruto’s eyes as he surged through the crowd in a bid to meet him.
“When the deputy President saw that Odanga was struggling to get closer to him, that is when he instructed me in Swahili saying acha huyo hustler mwenzangu apite (let my fellow hustler come),” DP’s Spokesman, Emmanuel Tallam was quoted by Nairobi News.
As the two shared a meal of roasted beef, the father of three requested to visit the deputy Head of State and was asked to leave his contacts with Ruto’s aides.
On the material day, he received a call inviting him to an 11am meeting with the Deputy President which he hurriedly attended despite having dirty shoes.
“He told me that he just wanted to verify that it was me he shared a meal with. My legs were shaking. Just being in his presence was an incredible feeling. These are the people I only see on TV,” Odanga recalled.
In the past weeks, President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ruto have actively been mingling with residents in different parts of the country while launching development projects.
The two have been spotted taking lunch at relatively low-class joints and even engaging with Kenyans in their mud houses.
