Wajackoyah Celebrates Son’s PhD Graduation in the US Army

Professor George Luchiri Wajackoyah has celebrated the graduation of his son, Lieutenant Obunga, who earned a PhD from Campbell University in North Carolina.

The ceremony was attended by family members and fellow officers, with photographs showing the family celebrating the achievement. Wajackoyah said his son is preparing to be commissioned as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army, marking another step in his academic and military career.

Messages of congratulations quickly appeared across social media, with many Kenyans and supporters abroad praising the accomplishment as a reflection of perseverance and the importance of education. One commenter noted that parents often endure hardship so their children can have greater opportunities, while others described education as a path to social mobility and progress.

The achievement also prompted discussion about access to opportunities and education. Some commentators compared the experiences of children studying abroad with the challenges faced by many young people in Kenya, particularly in accessing quality education and career opportunities.
