Registration for the US Green Card Lottery for FY 2017 (DV-2017) begins today, Thursday October 1st at 12noon EDT.
The Diversity Visa Program is administered annually by the Department of State and provides for a class of immigrants known as “diversity immigrants” from countries with historically low rates of immigration (less than 50,000 people) to the United States. Kenya nationalities qualify to participate in the program.
The registration period ends on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015 at 12 noon (EST).
Eligibility:
- The DV applicant must have been born in a qualifying country (with less than 50,000 immigrants in the US) – Kenya is a qualifying country.
- The DV applicant must meet the education/work experience of the DV program by having either
- at least a high school education or its equivalent, defined as successful completion of a 12-year course of formal elementary and secondary education; OR
- two years of work experience within the past five years in an occupation requiring at least two years of training or experience to perform. The U.S. Department of Labor’s O*Net Online database will be used to determine qualifying work experience.
