Police have arrested a university student for allegedly stabbing her lawyer boyfriend over infidelity.
The Nairobi based lawyer, who is currently nursing serious injuries at the Kenyatta National Referral Hospital, was stabbed thrice; on the collar bone, abdomen and at the back in Umoja Innercore.
The incident occurred on Sunday, November 1 after David Ochieng, 33, disagreed with the suspect over a text message from another woman.
Police report indicated that Linda Okumu, a 23-year-old student at Eldoret university, stabbed the man after she saw a text message in his phone from another lady requesting financial assistance.
The police said that the victim was rushed to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital at around 2am before he was referred to KNH.
He is still in a serious condition.
The suspect has since been arrested awaiting to be arraigned in court.
There have been reports of increased intimate partner violence in the country during this Covid-19 pandemic.
In July, President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered an investigation into rising reports of violence against women and girls including rape, domestic violence, female genital mutilation (FGM) and child marriage as a result of coronavirus restrictions.
