Man sentenced to life for defiling 11-year-old girl
A man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for defiling an 11-year-old girl in Eldoret.
The accused appeared before Principal Magistrate Caroline Wattimah, who found him guilty of the offence between October 21 and November 10, 2024, at Kamagut Area, Turbo Sub-County, Uasin Gishu County.
During the hearing, the court heard that the man, who is the mother’s boyfriend, defiled the minor at the mother’s bed and threatened her if she disclosed the occurrence.
“She further informed the court that the accused threatened her against disclosing the incident, warning that he would “pour glue into her mouth” if she told anyone,” the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution said in a statement.
The prosecution prayed for the court to impose the death sentence and declare the accused a dangerous sexual offender.
They also pushed for the victim to receive access to psychosocial support services and further treatment.
In its judgement, the Magistrate concurred with the prosecution’s submissions and declared the accused a dangerous sexual offender.
She also directed that the victim be accorded access to medication and psychosocial support services.
