Kenyans in South Korea Gather in Busan for Annual Sun and Sand Retreat

Kenyans living in South Korea gathered in Busan over the weekend for the annual Sun and Sand Summer Retreat, organised by the Kenyan Community in Korea.
The retreat brought together participants from different parts of South Korea for fellowship, relaxation and networking. It also provided an opportunity for members of the Kenyan diaspora to strengthen their social and cultural ties.
Representatives from the Kenyan Mission in Seoul attended the event. Deputy Head of Mission Ambassador David Karanja and Second Counsellor Gillian Kerubo joined the gathering and interacted with members of the Kenyan community in an informal setting.
For many participants, the retreat was an opportunity to reconnect with fellow Kenyans and maintain a sense of shared heritage while living overseas. Such gatherings also allow members of the diaspora to exchange experiences, build professional and social networks, and discuss common challenges.
The events provide diplomatic missions with an opportunity to engage directly with citizens abroad and gain a better understanding of their needs. They also strengthen communication between diaspora communities and their representatives.
The Sun and Sand Summer Retreat has become an annual fixture for Kenyans in South Korea, reflecting the continued growth and cohesion of the community. Organisers and participants are expected to maintain the tradition as a way of promoting unity, cultural ties and engagement beyond the annual gathering.
