Kenyan Woman Allegedly Attacks Five Children in Uganda, Killing Two After Marital Dispute

Two children have died and three others are critically injured after their mother allegedly attacked all five inside their home in Kampala.
The incident occurred at about 4am on Thursday, 24 July, at a residence in Kalungu Zone, Bunga, in the Ggaba area of Makindye Division. A housemaid raised the alarm after hearing cries from inside the home, prompting neighbours and emergency responders to intervene.
Fourteen-year-old Khadija Daizy was found dead in her bedroom. Her seven-year-old sister, Hawa Dalena, died shortly after being admitted to hospital. Their three siblings, aged 13, eight and five, remain in intensive care.
Police identified the suspect as 43-year-old Dorothy Namayo, a Kenyan national, who was also injured during the incident. She is receiving treatment at Mulago National Referral Hospital under police guard.
Neighbours told investigators that a dispute between Namayo and her husband may have preceded the attack. Police have not confirmed a motive. Detectives from the homicide unit, assisted by forensic specialists, have examined the scene and collected evidence.
Post-mortem examinations are being carried out on the two children who died, while investigators continue to record witness statements to establish what happened. The case has been registered as murder and attempted murder.
The incident follows another recent case of alleged maternal violence in Kenya. In Sosik Village in Bomet County, residents reported that a mother locked her children inside their home before setting it on fire, killing them despite attempts by neighbours to intervene.
