Kenyan Man Dies in US Motorcycle Crash Three Years After His Parents’ Murder

Joseph Nyagechi Morema, a 29-year-old Kenyan living in Burnsville, Minnesota, has died after a motorcycle crash in the United States.

Authorities said the accident occurred on the night of Tuesday, 21 April, along Interstate 35E in Dakota County. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Morema was riding a 2020 Suzuki GSX-S when he lost control on a gravel section of the road. He was thrown from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators confirmed he was wearing a helmet and that alcohol was not a factor.

His death follows the killing of his parents, Edward Morema Nyagechi and Grace Mong’ina Morema, in Nyamira County three years ago. The couple were attacked while visiting their rural home in a case that remains unresolved.

The incident drew concern among local residents and Kenyans living abroad, with calls for accountability from officials in both Kenya and the United States. Relatives and friends have expressed grief at the loss, noting the family has now suffered multiple tragedies in a short period.

Messages shared online reflected sympathy and shock, while some urged against attributing the events to superstition and instead emphasised the realities of accidents.
