Kenyan Embassy in Qatar Pledges Support for Diaspora Mental Health and Culture

The Kenyan Embassy in Doha has pledged to strengthen ties with citizens living in Qatar and support local community welfare programmes.

Kenya’s Ambassador to Qatar, Mohamed Nur Adan, held separate talks in Doha with two Kenyans based in the Gulf state to review their contributions to arts, culture, and social support.

Mental health awareness and peer support took center stage during discussions between Ambassador Adan and Felix Cheruiyot, a senior leader at Gulf Good Vibes. The African community initiative works in Qatar to build social connections, offer peer support, and promote emotional well-being among migrants.

During their meeting, Adan and Cheruiyot focused on practical ways community groups can improve welfare and mental health resources for the Kenyan diaspora.

The ambassador also met Abdulrahman Hussein, a Kenyan artist working with Qatar Museums. Hussein recently gained recognition from Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani, a prominent leader in Qatar’s cultural sector.

Hussein presented a gift to the ambassador during the visit, though embassy officials did not disclose details about the artwork.

In a statement, the embassy said the meetings reflect a broader effort to maintain active links with diaspora members, recognize individual achievements, and back initiatives that enhance social welfare abroad.
