Kenya is open for business – Uhuru tells Ghanaians

Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta has said his country is open to businesses and cooperation from Ghana towards enhancing the ties between the two countries.

According to him, Kenya is proud of its historical relationship with Ghana which was established through the bond between Ghana’s first President Kwame Nkrumah and Kenya’s founding father Jomo Kenyatta.

Speaking as a special guest at Ghana’s 59th Independence Day anniversary celebration in Accra, Mr Kenyatta said Kenya is proud of Ghana’s achievement as a leader in the continental quest for peace and democracy.

“Let’s continue to work together to enhance the trade between our two countries, lets continue to interact among ourselves to forge more partnerships. Let’s work to breakdown the artificial barriers placed in our ways and work together. Kenya is open for business. Kenya value its friendship and cooperation with Ghana,” he stated.

On terrorism, the Kenya leader said “ It’s unfortunate that today acts of terrorism appears to be the norm instead of the exception…Let’s come together to defeat the enemy that is threatening our people and their way of life…terrorism cannot be seen as the norm”.

Ghana is marking its 59th Independence Day anniversary today March 6 after gaining freedom from British rule in 1957. As part of the celebration, parades of school children and security officials are held across the country.
