Kenya has Big Room for Economic Growth with More Diaspora involvement

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), there are over three million Kenyans living abroad and this number is continuously on the rise.

MFA correctly holds it that Diaspora possesses immense resources which can greatly contribute to the
transformation of our country as envisaged in the Kenya Vision 2030.

One of the forerunner organisations that has been championing for more Kenyan Diaspora involvement is the Kenya Diaspora Alliance.

This alliance has been lobbying with government, partnering with the private sector and bringing the Diaspora together in various forums.

Such forum pumps energy to all those who believe in Diaspora power, talents, skills and resources.

Speaking during the recent Kenya Diaspora Alliance event at Laico Regency Hotel, George Wachiuri of Optiven applauded KDA, recognizing the need to support diaspora in terms of hiring skills and helping those who want to relocate back to the motherland.

He also asked Kenyan consulate offices to give Kenyans out there full support on their various immigration needs.

He observed that Kenyans living in the diaspora have a big desire to invest back home. They face a myriad of challenges including, inefficient systems, lack of mentorship and lack of the right people to partner with. Optiven Group has been the number one supporter of Kenyans living abroad in mentorship, job creation, lobbying and fostering business partnerships.

George Wachiuri enumerated how Optiven has been sponsoring many events in the USA, EU, UK, Europe, UAE and African countries. “This is one way of give back and to appreciate those who support the Optiven vision of economically and socially empowering and transforming the society,” said Mr Wachiuri

He emphasized that Optiven involve Diaspora in offering them infrastructure, building & supply of building materials contracts, mentoring those coming back and offering senior jobs.

During the event, Dr. Shem emphasized that diaspora plays a key role to the Kenyan economy and he requested the government to give Diaspora tax incentives by working with various governments to avoid double taxation.

He also invited all Diaspora to a big Event of Diaspora home coming at Ole Sereni
