A Kenyan family is seeking help in raising cash to assist them repatriate the body of their kinwho drowned in a South Carolina river back to Kenya.Fred Ochieng Babu, 35, passed away on June 18th2017 after accidentally drowning in CongareeRiver, South Carolina.He was swimming near the Gervais Street when he became distressed and went missing around11am.At the time of the accident, Babu was with three other swimmers when they were overwhelmedcurrents.One of the swimmers got to some nearby rocks while the other two were helped by a person whowas nearby and had noticed they were in trouble.Babu however went under water and was not seen again until he was retrieved by a search team,boats and a helicopter.Babu has left a young daughter and as you can imagine, the family is grieving and have a longjourney ahead.
Their immediate need is to have his remains repatriated from Columbia, South Carolina to hisfinal resting place in Kenya.Funeral expenses are only the beginning for his family.If you can help, please help them at this time of need.You can contribute through this gofundme account
With a heavy heart, I ask for your help. My brother, Fred Ochieng Babu, passed suddenly, Sunday June 18th from accidental drowing in Congaree river in South Carolina. sHe leaves behind young daughter. As you can imagine, the family is grieving right now and we have a long journey ahead of us to have his remains repatriated from Columbia, South Carolina to his final resting place in Kenya.
