The Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Fred Matiang’i, is in Boston to advance Kenya Education. He will have a town hall meeting with Diaspora Kenyans where he looks to update the Diaspora on the current status of the education in Kenya. Many in the Diaspora who will be attending the event say, “Dr. Matiang’i has done a great job in the education sector.”
The Diaspora will get an opportunity to talk and share ideas on how they can improve on the education in Kenya. Diaspora has started various initiatives that are geared toward education.
Kenya University Project that originated from the late Prof. Raphael Njoroge is one the ongoing projects that the Diaspora is working on. 30 Diaspora scholars, Diaspora professionals and Diaspora are today advancing the project that will advance 10 constitutional rights to Kenya including the rights of housing, education, healthcare and other rights through the development of a town and Diaspora university.
Another project that Diaspora Kenyans are involved in is: the food for education program that feeds children lunch. Nixon Muiruri who is part of the program after an introductory meeting with the Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Matiangi, said he sees this as a great opportunity for Diaspora and the Ministry to partner for the benefit of the Kenya children. “I look forward to engaging you,” Nixon informed Cabinet Secretary Dr. Matiang’i and Dr. Jane Munga of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
