There has been many challenges in the making, but with God’s help the Church have overcome them all.In 2010 we bought the  Church at Leicester as we wanted to expand services through out the week and we wanted our kids to have space for Sunday School, no sooner we moved to Leicester than, we realized that we needed more offices, Sunday school Classes and Kitchen for preparing tea and meals. Therefore,we started the construction of the new building which was opened in may 2012.

We have rapidly out grown the space in every aspect therefore Church decided to get  new premises which with God’s help we purchased this year on January 17th 2015.
The Church has a capacity of 400 people and a Church hall with a capacity of 300 people equipped with a  commercial kitchen.

The property  also have a Rectory for the Pastor which has offices and four Sunday school classes. However, there were several things we had  to do to improve the facility,to meet our Church needs. We quickly organized a fund raiser on 12th April and our Church Members and Friends  gave more than 74,000 Dollars which enabled the Church to move in smoothly.

The Church is built on a solid foundation faith in Christ, always focusing on the goals without wasting  time in petty issues  that divide us.
The Church has done a lot  in supporting one another in times of need and our success can only be attributed to God’s Favor, unity and good leadership.
The Church adopted  a system of transparency  in everything no mutter big or small and keeping  all our members informed.
IMG_7839
St John Church  is institutional, therefore the Church council runs the Church and  Development Committee advices the Church on all development matters.
The Pastoral team also works hard to see the word of God is preached without limits and effectively reaching out to our members at all times.
IMG_8206We are a Church with a good vibrant and gifted  worship team, which  makes our Church lively and unique, our choir is one of the best in New England,Secondly, strong  pillars in Men’s group, well articulated  Women’s group, Our youth is the among the best dancers in New England,Sunday school is the best and finally a strong married couples organization which keeps our families together.

I wish to welcome you all and your life will never be the same

The St John Community Church, vision group started meeting in May’ 2014

We were asked by our Pastor,Rev Kiama and the Church council to come up with a 10 year  blueprint- vision for the Church.
At that time, the Church had about 120 members but we envisioned that the church will grow rapidly to beyond 500 members within 10 years. We soon realized that the Leicester Church was already getting overcrowded especially during joint services. At first, we looked for various options of expanding the Leicester building. However, we realized that this was not going to take us far and hence we started looking for a new Church facility that could hold over 500 members.

We initially viewed a couple of available buildings around Aug ‘2014, all of which were not satisfactory. By Gods grace, we came to learn of the Sutton property around Oct’2014,we viewed the Church and quickly decided that this property had the required capacity and was being sold at a very attractive price.
We made an offer and after several negotiations agreed to buy the property at 260, 000/=
We signed the purchase and sale by Dec’2014. The  purchase process was tedious  and full of stringent  requirements including EPA detailed inspection but again God was with us and we closed the sale in Feb 2015.

We then identified all the necessary repairs. We needed more bathrooms, a new altar platform, new tiles for the youth service, new carpets and rewiring of the electrical panels and lighting.
We estimated that this was going to cost around 70,000/= and organized a very successful Church fundraising  in  April’2015.
IMG_8080
We started the work immediately thereafter, after several permit issues and  we are proud to inform you that we have now completed 90% of this work as you can see for yourself. There is still lots of finishing that needs to be done.
We wish to thank God, for this far he has brought us, we also  wish to thank Pastor Kiama, the Church council, the Development committee and everyone  who participated in a huge or small way.
 IMG_8122
There is still more work to be done to the  Sutton building, but more so in building the “Church”.
The Church is not the building, but the people i.e the members.
Areas of  needs, growth in the word, development in education goal, solid teachings on spiritual welfare, engaging the  youth, families and couples.
We call upon everyone in the Community to work with us as we propagate and  take the Church to the next  level.
