President Kenyatta Had Approved My Arrest,Raila Says
Opposition leader Raila Odinga says that President Kenyatta had approved his arrest after he (Raila) took oath of office as the people’s president on January 30th.
Speaking on Tuesday when he graced the opening of a new hotel in Kitui owned by US-based Kenyan scholar Makau Mutua, Odinga said President Uhuru however changed his mind after considering the full implications of his arrest.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader further said Kenya would have burned if he had not agreed to the famous March 9th handshake with the Head of State.
“Our people had already agreed to gather all presidential portraits and burn them in a single heap. We were also going to start collecting taxes from our strongholds… I thought about it keenly and figured that we could easily head the Iraq way,” he said.
Odinga also explained why he left his co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka and other National Super Alliance (Nasa) leaders out of the handshake. “I said I didn’t want to talk to those people who want to talk about 2022. He (Uhuru) said he would not come with Ruto, but also asked that I don’t come with Kalonzo. We agreed that the initial talks were to be talks about talks,” he said.
“The handshake has brought peace and stability in the country. Through the handshake, we have seen the government fully committed to the war on corruption,” Raila said.
