Why Octopizzo Finds it Easier to Live in Europe Than in His Home City of Nairobi

Kenyan hip-hop artist Octopizzo has said that fame has made everyday life in Nairobi increasingly difficult, prompting him to spend more time abroad where he can live with greater privacy and freedom.
The rapper said public recognition, which once felt rewarding, gradually became restrictive. According to him, the constant attention has affected his sense of peace and limited his ability to carry out ordinary activities without concern.
Octopizzo explained that routine tasks now require careful planning, including how he dresses and moves around in public. He said even simple activities, such as walking to the shop or visiting town, attract significant attention and can feel overwhelming.
He added that living abroad offers a level of anonymity he no longer experiences in Nairobi. In European cities, he said, he can move freely without being recognised, allowing him to dress casually and carry out daily activities without interruption.
The artist also spends time in Siaya, where he says residents are less intrusive than people in the city. He described the rural setting as another place where he is able to enjoy greater personal space.
In addition to music, Octopizzo has expanded into other ventures, including real estate investment and charitable work through his foundation. He also intends to enter politics and plans to contest a parliamentary seat in the next general election.
