For many people, being diagnosed with a chronic disease feels like a death sentence, especially at the point when a doctor breaks the dreaded news.

Such was the case for 32-year-old Emmanuel Gitau from Mugumo estate in Kiambu county who has undergone fourteen major operations, and three failed kidney transplants, forcing him to live on dialysis.

However, despite the emotional and financial strain most renal patients go through, Gitau is still optimistic that one day he will recover, he has embarked on sensitizing people on the benefits of taking the recommended eight glasses of water per day that most people take for granted.
