US-Based Kenyan Scholar Dr. ElizabethWachira be Honored by Texas A&MUniversity
US-based Kenyan scholar, Dr. Elizabeth Wachira is set to be honored by Texas A&M University.
Dr. Wachira is among 15 outstanding faculty members who will be honored by the A&M-Commerce Faculty Senate and the Texas Association of Black Personnel in Higher Education.
They will be feted during the second annual Dr. Augustine “Chuck” Arize Junior Faculty Award Ceremony on Tuesday, October 6th.
The Junior Faculty Award recognizes faculty members from A&M-Commerce who show professional excellence.
Nominees for the award are picked by department heads or deans based on exceptional teaching evaluations, research, publications, among other considerations.
Besides being a faculty member of Texas A&M University, Dr. Wachira is a youth director at her church, Rhema Gospel Church in Texas.
Tuesday’s awards ceremony will be conducted virtually via Zoom. Speakers at the event will include A&M University President Dr. Mark Rudin, Dr. Julia Ballenger (Faculty Senate president), Trelandra Duffey (musician), and Dr. John Humphreys (provost and vice-president of Academic Affairs).
Others are Dr. Alberto Ruiz (vice-president of Academic Affairs, University of Louisiana-Monroe), and Dr. Augustine “Chuck” Arize.
