In a tweet on Friday, Ruto endorsed an article in the Building Bridges Initiative referendum Bill saying it captures the needs of the ‘hustler nation’.
The DP Ruto cited new Article 10 (a) in the Bill which he said it was introduced after the launch of the BBI report at Bomas of Kenya.
He said the section has captured the needs of his movement, Hustler Nation.
“New article 11A in the BBI Constitution Bill introduced after Bomas will anchor the ordinary people’s hustler economics of wheelbarrow, boda×2, mamamboga, pastoralists/butchers & guarantee maximum return on coffee, tea, korosho, sukari, maize. Bottom up not trickle down economics,” he tweeted.
Ruto’s latest move has sent a mixed signals to his supporters who have been waiting for him to declare his stand on the BBI referendum.
@njagawanjaga reacting to DP Ruto’s post said: ” I said it on Tuesday… Wanjiku will find herself alone, abandoned for political expediency. The million dollar question in wanjikus mind is this… Who is expected to shoulder the ever growing burden of over representation and creation of multiple corruption avenues.”
@njagawanjaga wrote: “If you are a sincere leader of the hustler NATION, you should demand an item by item referendum… Let kenyans vote on every issue in the bill….Since you seem to be on your way into the BBI train, I hereby offer to Lead the NO CAMP!”
