Police officer shoots dead Jubilee politician in Kiambu
A police officer in Kiambu has been arrested for allegedly killing a politician on Saturday, August 25 – The officer reportedly killed an MCA aspirant who lost in the elections at around 3:00am following a confrontation – The deceased William Mwangi lost during the Jubilee nominations for Lari Kirenga ward in Kiambu Police officer, Edward Manjalu has been arrested for allegedly killing a former MCA aspirant in Limuru town, Kiambu. READ ALSO: Supreme Court postpones presidential election petition hearing The officer attached to Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) reportedly shot the deceased after an argument over a bottle of beer. Witnesses revealed the politician, William Mwangi was with his friends when the police officer demanded for a bottle of beer from their table. “The problem started when the gentleman demanded to drink a bottle of beer but we asked him to pay for it. He asked us if we knew who he was and told him Kenya is a free country guarded by law. We didn’t know he was an officer,” said a witness.
According to Nation, the two confronted each other and engaged in a fist fight forcing bouncers to throw the officer out. The officer instead waited for Mwangi outside the bar and shot him at a close range as he entered his vehicle.
Limuru DCI boss Mwenda Itheiba comfirmed the arrest saying the officer is now in police custody. The body of the deceased was taken to Uplands Funeral home awaiting a postmorterm
