New Infotrak survey shows Uhuru Kenyatta most popular presidential candidate

The poll also revealed that the media enjoys the highest trust levels from Kenyans at 65 per cent.
President Kenyatta has 40 per cent support among the youth under 30 years while Mr Odinga has 30 per cent support.
40 per cent of Kenyans said they supported the Jubilee coalition while Cord enjoyed 30.8 per cent support.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is currently the most popular presidential candidate, results of a new opinion poll have shown.

According to the survey conducted by Infotrak Research and Consulting, Mr Kenyatta enjoys the support of 44.5 per cent of Kenyans while his closest competitor Raila Odinga has 27.8 per cent popularity level.

The survey also showed that Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka has 2.5 support as a presidential candidate, Peter Kenneth – 2.2 per cent, Moses Wetang’ula – 1.1 per cent, Martha Karua – 0.7 per cent while Musalia Mudavadi has 0.5 per cent.

And although he is not vying for presidency, Deputy President William Ruto got 1.2 per cent support as a presidential candidate.

On political parties, the newly-created Jubilee Alliance Party is the most popular at 30 per cent followed by Cord at 26 per cent.

TNA has 7.6 per cent support while Wiper Democratic Movement has 2.6 per cent popularity rating.

MEDIA MOST TRUSTED

The poll also revealed that the media enjoys the highest trust levels from Kenyans at 65 per cent.

However, the least trusted institution is Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) with 70 per cent of Kenyans indicating they do not trust the anti-graft body.

Following closely is the Judiciary with 61 per cent of the respondents saying they did not trust it while 58 per cent showed mistrust with the police.

On political coalitions, 40 per cent of Kenyans said they supported the Jubilee coalition while Cord enjoyed 30.8 per cent support.

Among the Jubilee supporters, 88 per cent said they would vote for Mr Kenyatta while 77 per cent of those in Cord would vote for Mr Odinga.

At the same time, President Kenyatta has 40 per cent support among the youth under 30 years while Mr Odinga has 30 per cent support.
