He filed a report at the Gigiri Police Station on Sunday, September 10, following a visit from a senior State House official who visited him at home to warn him of a “real and imminent threat to his life”. According to Wanjigi, for the past one month, strange people and vehicles have been trailing him day and night, and is therefore seeking police protection at his own cost.
“This is to bring to attention the above subject your urgent intervention and further necessary action by providing our client with adequate police security at his cost before any harm is visited on him. He believes the reason why his life is in danger is bcause of his close association with the National Super Alliance leaders,” wrote his lawyers to the Inspector General of Police, Joseph Boinnet.
The Standard on Friday, September 15, reported that Wanjigi believes there is already a plot in place to turnish his name, and it all begun with the publication of ‘fake articles’ about him in a local daily just before Kenyans headed to the ballot. “These articles were calculated to give room to those plotting against me. There is a larger scheme to harm me, a real and persistent threat against my life,” added Wanjigi.
The matter is now under investigation as police await for word from Boinnet on Wanjigi’s request for police protection.
