NASA is Now a Resistance Movement,Announces Raila Odinga As He UrgesSupporters to Boycott Election
National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga has told his supporters not to participate in repeat presidential election set for Thursday.
Addressing thousands of supporters at Uhuru Park in Nairobi on Wednesday evening, Raila asked his supporters to boycott the election, convince friends not to participate and stay away from the polling stations.
The former Prime Minister further said that from Thursday, Nasa will transform to a resistance movement and champion for the a fresh presidential election within 90 days. “We ask those who believe in democracy not to participate in the sham election, hold prayers away from polling stations,” he said.
“We are transforming the NASA coalition into a resistance movement. When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty. The only government that can be established is one elected through a free, fair and credible process,” He said. “We shall mobilize all progressive forces to ensure that fresh, free and fair elections are held within 90 days.”
He further called on supporters to remain calm and not attack their neighbors along on ethnic lines.
“Do not look at your brother or sister with suspicion, do not insult your neighbor. In this region, we are the only country standing for democracy, If Kenya succumbs to dictatorship, all Africa will be in danger,” he said.
He also termed the other five presidential candidates in the race as flower girls of President Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto. “All the others (presidential candidates) are just flower girls. We will not be flower girls to Uhuru & Ruto.”
He further said that Nasa will embark on a campaign to urge supporters to boycott products and services from companies that were beneficiaries of a bungled elections.
