Kilifi Family Pleads for Help as Son Falls Ill and Becomes Homeless in Dubai

A family in Kilifi County is appealing for urgent help to rescue their son, Patrick Mwandonga, who they say has been left homeless and ill in Dubai after travelling there for work.

Relatives in Chumani village said Mwandonga moved to the United Arab Emirates last year after securing employment through a recruitment agent. The family said he hoped to earn an income and support relatives at home.

According to a friend who travelled with him, Mwandonga later became seriously ill and was unable to continue working. Without a source of income or stable accommodation, he is believed to be living in difficult conditions on the streets of Dubai.

The family fears he has limited access to medical treatment and is struggling to meet basic needs. They are now calling on the Kenyan government, the Kenyan embassy in the UAE, and members of the public to help locate him, arrange medical care, and support his return to Kenya.

Recruitment agencies have faced criticism in the past over inadequate protection measures for workers abroad. Mwandonga’s relatives said they hope authorities will intervene quickly to ensure his safety and reunite him with his family.
