Kenyans in Atlanta Step In to Help John Njoroge After Months of Homelessness

Kenyans living in Atlanta have helped compatriot John Njoroge secure accommodation after months without a permanent home following health, housing and legal difficulties.

Njoroge’s troubles began after the breakdown of his marriage and subsequent legal disputes. He later suffered a serious leg injury that required surgery, limiting his ability to work. As his financial difficulties increased, he fell behind on rent and was eventually evicted.

For a period, Njoroge lived in his car, which became his only shelter. His situation came to wider attention when Kenyan content creator Karanja Dan KD found him in a Walmart car park, where security officers were reportedly asking him to leave.

KD shared Njoroge’s story online and appealed to Kenyans in the diaspora for support. Kenyans in Atlanta and other well-wishers responded by providing assistance, eventually helping Njoroge secure a home.

Njoroge is also receiving medical care, including physiotherapy and medication, as he continues his recovery. The support has given him a more stable base from which to rebuild his life, although he still faces challenges as he works to regain financial and personal stability.
