Kenyan Woman Dies in Amsterdam While Returning to Texas from Holiday in Kenya

A Kenyan woman living in College Station, Texas has died in Amsterdam on her way back from Kenya after a family holiday.

Faith Mugwe Kairu died on Monday while in transit through Amsterdam where she was in the company of her husband Timothy Kairu Wanyoike and their three children Mark,Ryan and Emma. The kids are 4 years old, 18 months and 3 months old.

Faith and her family decided to cut short her visit to Kenya after she fell ill and travel back to Texas. Her health however deteriorated while airborne and was rushed to hospital upon arrival at Amsterdam’s Schipol Airport.

Faith died at the hospital moments later. Her husband was by her bedside at the time of her passing.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing on of Faith Mukami Kairu, who went to be with the Lord on January 2, 2017.
Faith was the loving wife of Timothy Kairu Wanyoike (Tim), devoted mother to Mark, Ryan and Emma Kairu. She is a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Mugwe of Nakuru Kenya and a daughter in love to Mr. & Mrs. Wanyoike of Gatundu
Faith and Tim formerly lived in Atlanta and Alabama. At the time of her death, they were living with their three children in College Station, Texas, where Faith was a pharmacist at the Physicians Center Hospital.
Faith and her family had traveled to Kenya to be with their loved ones during the Christmas break. A couple of days before their departure for Texas, Faith begun to feel unwell. The family departed for the U.S. on December 28, via Amsterdam.. Her condition deteriorated during the flight from Kenya to the US. On arrival in Amsterdam, she was hospitalized and admitted to the ICU where she was diagnosed with septic shock.  Despite the doctors’ best efforts, Faith passed away on the morning of January 2 2017.
Family and friends are gathering in Atlanta, Alabama, Texas, Nakuru, and Gatundu for prayers and funeral arrangements. Details of the funeral arrangements will be communicated later.
We are calling on friends and well-wishers to support the family through prayers for Tim, the kids and all their loved ones during this very difficult time. We are also appealing for financial support to cover the enormous costs that the family has incurred and will continue to incur including but not limited to hospital bills, travel costs, funeral costs and the cost of sending Faith’s body home for interment.
