Kenyan-American,New England Pastor ordained in Kenya

Rev Johnson Irungu of Church of All Nations, North Reading was ordained in a Colorful ceremony by The Rt. Rev. Joel Waweru, Bishop of Nairobi Diocese at the Anglican Church of Kenya St Stephen’s Cathedral Nairobi Diocese.

Also present was Emeritas Rt. Rev. Peter Njoka among many other Canons.

The procession,orientation and ordination was glorious and the Nairobi Cathedral filled to capacity as the over 1000 plus people in attendance graced the beautiful ordination ceremony at St Stephen’s Cathedral,Jogoo Road,Nairobi Kenya.

The well attended ceremony witnessed the ordinations of over 20 individuals that were divided into 4 categories.

Rev. Johnson Irungu from Malden Massachusetts,was ordained as a Deacon and was commissioned together with his wife Mrs Cecilia Irungu and given a special license to officiate any event such as Holy Communion, baptisms,weddings and burials.

A week before ordination, Canons, Priests, Deacons and Laymen, had gone to St Julian Retreat Center in Limuru and underwent vigorous trainings, physical exercises and embarked on a one week of empowerment on various disciplines in Ministry.

With the help of the experienced retreat instructor Rev.Canon Peter Maina and his wife Jacobed Maina, the ordainees and their wives played games, networked, and taught the word of God together.

They were equipped on practical skill-sets on how to run Church ministry,how to balance family, friends and ministry, how to be responsible Pastors accountable to God and Man.

Last but not least,they were reminded of the blessings, joys, God’s benefits and many challenges involved in Church ministry and how to consult one another, draw on God’s strength & wisdom and, more than that, marvel at the worldwide fellowship of which the church is part of, where as one body of believers, obey Jesus Christ’s call.

“Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

Rev. Johnson Irungu attended New England Bible Institute and Theological Seminary,excelled and graduated in 2012 with Bachelors in Practical Theology.

His call to the ministry started in the early 80s and has extensive experience as a Sunday School & Brigade Instructor, both in Kenya and United States.

Rev. Johnson Irungu,wife Cecilia Irungu and Family,have served faithfully at St Paul’s Community Church,Lawrence as a Lay leader & Sunday School & Youth Instructors,before receiving the call of God to start a Church in North Reading, North of Massachusetts.

Church of All Nations, is an inter-denominational ministry based in Reading Massachusetts and has regular services on Sunday from 11Am to 12.30PM.
