Fathers of Australia-Based Children Honoured at Special Celebration in Eldoret

Fathers whose children live in Australia were honoured at a Father’s Day celebration held at Rupa Mall in Eldoret on Saturday, 20 June 2026.

The event was organised by Kenyan sons and daughters living in Australia as a way of recognising their fathers despite the distance separating them. The gathering brought together parents for an afternoon of entertainment, shared meals and social interaction.

Attendees spent time exchanging stories about raising their families and watching their children build lives and careers abroad. The occasion combined moments of celebration with reflections on the sacrifices and commitment involved in supporting their children’s ambitions.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of messages sent from Australia. In the tributes, children thanked their fathers for the values they had instilled, the sacrifices they had made and the encouragement they had provided throughout their lives. The messages were read aloud during the gathering, creating an emotional connection between families across continents.

Relatives and guests described the celebration as an example of how family bonds can remain strong despite geographical separation. They said the initiative demonstrated the efforts made by diaspora communities to maintain close relationships with relatives at home while preserving family traditions.
