Family Appeals for Help to Repatriate Kenyan Woman Killed in Australia Crash
The family of Laurynhill Wambui is seeking financial assistance to repatriate her body to Kenya after she was killed in a road accident in Western Australia.
Wambui died on September 28, 2026, following a vehicle collision on the South Western Highway in Balingup, Western Australia. Her death has prompted messages of condolence from relatives, friends and members of the Kenyan community in Australia and Kenya.
An online fundraising campaign launched after the accident said Wambui’s partner was also seriously injured in the crash. He remains in hospital as he recovers from his injuries, with family members and well-wishers praying for his recovery.
The family is seeking donations to cover the costs of transporting Wambui’s remains to Kenya, arranging her funeral and meeting other expenses arising from the tragedy. Her relatives said their main priority is to bring her body home so that she can be buried in Kenya among her family and friends.
They have appealed to members of the public to contribute towards the repatriation costs, with donations of any amount welcomed. The fundraising campaign will also provide support for Wambui’s injured partner as he continues his recovery. The family has asked people who are unable to contribute financially to share the appeal with others who may be able to assist.
