The 18th Annual Lowell African Festival was held on Saturday, June 17th 2017 was great as usual.
The festival was opened by Lowell officials, Mayor Edward Kennedy, Superintendent Salah Khelfaoui, President of African Cultural Association (ACA), Levenia Furusa and Ben Opara the Vice President. There was a plethora of African culture and diversity.
African music spanned from young to old featuring Mamadou, a world class ensemble featuring Senegalese Music to Afro-Jam, 2nd generation African youth dance group. The DJ played music that could be heard blocks away inviting people to dance.
The fashion show exhibited attires from different African cultures. Besides showcasing the rich African culture in Lowell, the African festival serves as a place for vendors to showcase their services to the community. Such vendors are Metro PCS, Element Care, Circle Health and many others. The festival serves as a place for people of all cultures to come and enjoy the diversity together.
Any Lowellian attending the festival is bound to meet up with old acquaintances and catch up on life. It’s one Saturday experience for the taking! Never miss it!
