Boni Khalwale Mourns Wife Gloria Sekeiyan After Sudden Death

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale is mourning the death of his wife, Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale, who died suddenly on Saturday morning after collapsing in what the senator described as a heart attack.
Khalwale announced Gloria’s death in a statement, saying she had unexpectedly collapsed and died. The family has not said that she had been suffering from any known illness before her death.
Gloria was the mother of eight of Khalwale’s children: Engine Kukaste, Olivia Sabayi, Flavia Shimuli, Gift Atubukha, Meliza Khamwenyi, Velma Nasiebanda, Sonia Inuni and Maura Makatse. Messages of condolence have been sent to the family by political leaders and other associates. Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna expressed his sympathy and offered prayers for the family.
Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa described Gloria’s death as a sudden loss and extended his condolences to Khalwale, his relatives and friends. Bumula MP Jack Wamboka also mourned Gloria, describing her death as devastating for the Khalwale family. He said the Linda Mwananchi team stood with the senator and his family during the mourning period.
Other leaders, including National Assembly Budget and Appropriations Committee chair Samuel Atandi and former Principal Secretary Irungu Nyakera, also conveyed their condolences and wished the family strength. Gloria was also the mother of Engine Kukaste Khalwale, who recently graduated from Moringa School as a Certified Full-Stack Software Engineer.
Khalwale has spoken publicly about his family. In February 2024, he said he had four wives and 17 children, with Gloria being his third wife. Gloria’s death is the latest bereavement to affect Khalwale’s immediate family.
His first wife, Adelaide Khalwale, who was the mother of his first three children, died in 2019. His second wife, Josephine Khalwale, has three children, while his fourth wife, Diana Khalwale, is also the mother of three.
