‘You Are Corona’: VIDEO of Kenyans Harassing Chinese Nationals Goes Viral
video recording showing a group of Kenyans harassing Chinese nationals over coronavirus has gone viral online.
In the 30-second undated video shared on Twitter on Tuesday, a crowd of Kenyans is seen pestering a Chinese woman who is in the company of a man and taunting the two over the deadly virus that originated in their country.
It was not immediately established where in Kenya the video was recorded.
One Kenyan is seen repeatedly pointing at the Chinese woman and yelling “you are corona”. The two become visibly angry and try to defend themselves.
Last week, the Chinese embassy in Nairobi raised concerns over “irresponsible and racist remarks” targeting its citizens in Kenya.
“We call upon a rational and scientific approach towards Chinese communities, firmly object any irresponsible and even racist remarks as seen from one of the MPs today,” the embassy said in a tweet.
