There are key elements that make up a failed or a successful presidential campaign. Besides financial muscle and a vision; the ability to inspire and rally a majority behind a vision, amongst other factors, God’s hand in the affairs of men is the major factor because it constitutes the past, present and the future of a people and the nation. It is in essence the soul and the heartbeat of the nation. Though this is the least of the factors the electorate and the candidates pay attention to, it is the most influential if not the only one that matters; however, the reign of those God chooses or gives the favor is a completely different matter. The importance of God and the right Spirituality has been neglected and misused to the extent that as a nation and a people we are comfortable copying and institutionalizing an abomination in our constitution in the form of separating church and state. Put in different words, man can completely leave God out and run his own affairs and government. It’s not only a great error, but also a confusion of the mind. In the preamble we begin by recognizing, acknowledging, honoring and allowing God to have his rightful place in our lives, laws, and Nation. At what point then do we separate him? This error came in our lives and Nations in two parts. When God sent the Europeans to evangelize in Africa, they not only brought a shallow and greatly diluted gospel but they gave “civilizing” the native great importance. This lead to the great annihilation of our cultural values and spirituality. Indeed it didn’t take long for the Agikuyu to realize this error and declare that “gutiri Mubia na muthungu” literally translated that there is no difference between the missionary and the colonizer. Second part was the forceful eradication of our culture and spirituality, and the imposition by force a new religion, education and government. The next generations of “educated” leaders were so void of the value of God in nation building, that by the time of drafting a people “driven” constitution, godliness and personal character in leaders had evolved to a whole new animal called rights. And the constitution process was really people driven. God had been left out. Hence God can conveniently be eliminated by a clause separating church and state, in favor of freedoms and rights. Father God. Forgive us for we know not what we do. Many times the God of the bible clearly indicates he rules in the affairs of men. Psalms 75:5-7 lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck. 6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. 7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another. Luke 14:11 For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. John 19:11 Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: .... Daniel 4:17 This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men. Daniel 4:25 That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will. Daniel 4:35 And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, what doest thou? This is a biblical analysis why former Prime Minister Raila is in for a rude disappointment. In his entire political life, this is the one time he is giving his best shot, and he is living nothing to chance. As one of his lieutenants has said, he has one bullet, and the only one. With no option of reloading. The former PM is so obsessed and intoxicated with winning the presidency, that he is not only going to bed with anyone and anything that promises a vote and a win, he is marrying them pronto. And true to the prophets of politics, that politics makes strange bedfellows, the former PM has loads of them. Why is God opposing Mr. Raila? Mr. Raila has no spine for presidential leadership God opposes men who can’t stand up like men and be counted. For a good or bad course. Many might be shocked by this assertion, that Mr. Raila is spineless bearing his renowned stature of imprisonment for fighting the government. Besides the claim and the stature he has cultivated of fighting for the downtrodden and human rights, a closer look reveals a servant who has left his Godly call. The gifts to support the president and mobilize the masses are God given to support the authority for a united nation in service to God. It is in service to the president that he was to learn and transition from a kingmaker to the king having developed the presidential spine. But rather than serve and learn he used up the time and gifts scheming to become the president. Do not mistake his political achievements which are great and unrivalled with leadership call in politics. In his call, Mr. Raila embodies the spirit of Absalom rather than David who united a people behind the authority and as a Nation 2Samuel15:1-6. And it came to pass after this, that Absalom prepared him chariots and horses, and fifty men to run before him. 2 And Absalom rose up early, and stood beside the way of the gate: and it was so, that when any man that had a controversy came to the king for judgment, then Absalom called unto him, and said, Of what city art thou? And he said, Thy servant is of one of the tribes of Israel. 3 And Absalom said unto him, See, thy matters are good and right; but there is no man deputed of the king to hear thee. 4 Absalom said moreover, Oh that I were made judge in the land, that every man which hath any suit or cause might come unto me, and I would do him justice! 5 And it was so, that when any man came nigh to him to do him obeisance, he put forth his hand, and took him, and kissed him. 6 And on this manner did Absalom to all Israel that came to the king for judgment: so Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel. Whether with or without government support, bearing in mind the influence, power and positions he has had at his disposal, Mr. Raila has done little in rallying a community behind a local/national project geared towards personal and communal uplifting. But, he has forever mobilized Nyanza and Nairobi constituencies for his political re-election. Mr. Raila has been about mass demonstration for political mileage rather than national cohesion. Even what seems like a position he has taken, is usually a calculated spin which only ends up giving him mass admiration or sympathy. God is the reverse, he equips a man as he did with Mr. Raila with favor, influence, social connections and acceptance to rally a people for a good course. Eg. Moses, Joshua, King David. But Like Absalom he will leave a people who were united disenfranchised and without a course Anti-authority and a murmur. There has never been a government that is good or acceptable in Mr. Raila’s eyes. Even when he was at the highest office of Prime Minister, the greatest issues that remains in the minds of the citizens is not the achievements of the five years, but his stolen win, the nusu-mkate government, how he was short-changed and hence couldn’t do anything for five years. God likes and backs men who take charge and authority to accomplish something or change something. God frowns upon whiners. In Exodus 4:14 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart. God was fed up and became angry with Moses. That whining and anger would later cause Moses to fail in accomplishing his purpose. And like Mr. Raila who never takes responsibility, he really transferred the blame to the people. Deutronomy 1:37 Also the Lord was angry with me for your sakes, saying, Thou also shalt not go in thither. There isn’t a single individual in Kenya who takes greater responsibility of whining and arousing the spirit of murmuring against the authority and government like Mr. Raila. In Numbers 16 and 2Samuel 18, are Korah and Absalom that Mr. Raila should learn from. God opposes men who arouse murmuring and uprising against authorities. Mr. Raila reached his height of anti-authority when in 2008 after realizing he had been outsmarted, he said he can’t go to court, he would rather have the country un-governable. Once more he used the people with the false claim that ‘it was a spontaneous reaction’. In 2013 after being outsmarted again, he vented his anger on the Supreme Court, calling a kangaroo court. Just like Absalom, Mr. Raila has made everybody believe that, If he was made president, all the problems of Kenya would be solved pronto. And justice will only come to Kenya when he becomes president. 2Samuel 15: 4 Absalom added, Oh, that I were judge in the land! Then every man with any suit or cause might come to me and I would do him justice! Cunning and witty. Though it was his father who was christened Adonijah, I love the way Mr. Raila embodies the spirit of Adonijah. It is such a cunning and witty plan to power and the presidency. Just like Adonijah in 1kings chapter 1 and 2, Mr. Raila acknowledges President Uhuru and calls him his younger brother; just like King Solomon was to Adonijah. Just like Adonijah Mr. Raila’s claim is that the presidency has been stolen from him. And whereas in the public he will acknowledge the presidency of president Uhuru, in secrecy he is always plotting how to take over power. 1kings 1: 5 Then Adonijah son of [David’s wife] Haggith exalted himself, saying, I [the eldest living son] will be king. And he prepared for himself chariots and horsemen, with fifty men to run before him. When Adonijah failed to constitutionally/legitimately get the kingship, He resulted to underhand tactics of short-circuiting the constitution through illegitimate means to power 1kings2:15-22And he said, Thou knowest that the kingdom was mine, and that all Israel set their faces on me, that I should reign: howbeit the kingdom is turned about, and is become my brother's: for it was his from the Lord. 16 And now I ask one petition of thee, deny me not. And she said unto him, Say on. 17 And he said, Speak, I pray thee, unto Solomon the king, (for he will not say thee nay,) that he give me Abishag the Shunammite to wife. 18 And Bathsheba said, Well; I will speak for thee unto the king. 19 Bathsheba therefore went unto king Solomon, to speak unto him for Adonijah. And the king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself unto her, and sat down on his throne, and caused a seat to be set for the king's mother; and she sat on his right hand. 20 Then she said, I desire one small petition of thee; I pray thee, say me not nay. And who is better renown for those tactics than Agwambo? Mr. Raila makes himself irresistible for God to oppose as per; Psalms 18:25 With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright; 26 With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward. Mr. Raila is a bully. Many people have lost count of the many a party Mr. Raila has joined or formed in pursuit of the presidency. And every time that party stops serving his interest, without much ado he moves on if he can’t bully everyone to support him. This was the problem with King Sennacherib king of Assyria who was a bully and gloated about his power hence demanding Judah’s submission. 2Kings18:33 Has any one of the gods of the nation’s ever delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria? 34 Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad [in Syria]? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivvah [in the Euphrates Valley]? Have they delivered Samaria [Israel’s capital] out of my hand? 35 Who of all the gods of the countries has delivered his country out of my hand, that the Lord should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand? Two of the most memorable times when he literally bullied his way is when he came out stomping from his merger with KANU to join the rainbow coalition.anf the infamous debacle at Kasarani that came to be known AS “Men in Black” Mr. Raila has broken the cardinal rule. The way up is down. The cardinal rule for spiritual and secular ascent is service not political agitation. Whosoever builds a house, a home, a nation without God, labors in vain. Psalm 127:1 Mathew 20:25 And Jesus called them to Him and said, You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men hold them in subjection [tyrannizing over them]. 26 Not so shall it be among you; but whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant, 27 And whoever desires to be first among you must be your slave— 28 Just as the Son of Man came not to be waited on but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many [the price paid to set them free]. Mr. Raila was called to rise into the presidency through service, he spent the better part of his life opposing and fighting his way up. Mr. Raila great mistake of a running mate. From a political perspective and numbers, it was the best move, and the pick of Mr. Kalonzo Musyoka as a running mate was inevitable. After shortchanging him thrice, he couldn’t abandon him, rest he risked greater exposure. As surely as Isaiah 53:7-8 is true however, Mr. Raila couldn’t have picked a worse off running mate. Isaiah 53:7-8 for my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the Lord. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Mr. Kalonzo is a spiritual dead weight. Whereas the inclusion of Mr. Kalonzo was for magnanimity and political shrewdness this is spiritual miscalculation. Why is he a dead weight? Mr. Kalonzo is the Kenyan King Joash. Just like God saved King Joash as an infant from Athaliah’s murderous range, Mr. kalonzo is a man God picked from the dust of Tseikuru when he was a nobody, he equipped him with favour, humility, a servant heart, and an understanding/education in matters of law, that he may be available for his noble use. But just like King Joash forgot the role of Priest Jehoiada, Mr Kalonzo after rising to vice presidency, forgot the value of humility and servant heart that God had used to raise him up. Here is a man God hid and protected during the rampaging corruption days of KANU reign. But when it came time for him to stand for God, he greatly disappointed, he opted to please men rather than God. The vacuum that he left was filled by Mama Rainbow who came from nowhere, and like a shooting star she rose, shone and disappeared. But that is for another day. Mr. Kalonzo’s dark days. The first day came in November 2005, when he forgot humility and a servant heart to the ruling authority are the pillars God had used to raise him. He publicly embarrassed President Kibaki by telling him with the whole world watching to sack him “if he is man enough”. To an African man, an elder, a leader, a Kikuyu man; these are not idle words. It’s an insult reducing a man to a boy. The president in his wisdom, didn’t engage. And so began Mr. kalonzo downfall. Interestingly enough Mr. Kalonzo was in the company/team of Mr. Raila when he mustered the strength to utter these words. As a man who God’s hand was upon, there is no room for such idle words, neither can they be explained as political. With God idle words are very expensive. Mathew 12: 36 But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the Day of Judgment. Whether President Kibaki did it intentionally or by default, Mr. Kalonzo can cry and whine forever that President Kibaki short-changed him. But as surely as Genesis 8:22 is true, he is reaping what he sowed. Genesis 8:22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. The second dark day came when he couldn’t be decisive hence earning the tag ‘water melon’ as Kenyans were voting for the referendum. This tag of indecisiveness was again to leave a bad taste within the Kikuyu Nation when Mr. Kalonzo gave his support to President Kibaki a day too late, resulting into the coalition government and when the violence couldn’t be stopped. One school of thought holds that, if Mr. Kalonzo hadn’t dithered, the win was clear. And the contested presidency wouldn’t have arisen. In an effort to shrug off this tag of indecisiveness, in May 2017, Mr. Kalonzo finally dismissed the humility- the major quality that pleases God in a leader by stating, “ he would do away with this diplomatic demeanor” he forgot he shouldn’t be appearing before men but God. In his best effort to shake off the water melon tag; he inadvertently confirmed it. Last dark day not only of his leadership, but also his political life came when he crisscrossed the Nation selling his presidential vision, only to back down and betray his own party,Kamba Nation and the nation whom he had made to believe he was to go all the way to the ballot. Not only had he allowed himself to be taken advantage of, three times by Mr. Raila but also proved his indecisiveness. When everybody knew he should not have wasted time in supporting Mr. Raila he stuck out like the prodigal son amongst the swine’s, and finally wasted his redemption moment. Instead of going home he chose the pig sty. This left a very sour taste in the Kamba Nation and the Nation at large. Nationally it solidified his watermelon tag. A team that God is against. The combination of Mr. Raila and Mr. Kalonzo is irresistible for God to oppose. It is a perfect alliance like that of King Ahab and King Jehoshaphat, 1Kings 22. It is a team headed for doom. King Jehoshaphat had no business supporting King Ahab, not unlike Mr. Kalonzo supporting Mr. Raila. King Jehoshaphat knew never to go to war without Gods approval, but he nevertheless did. Mr. Kalonzo knows very well he should be a servant leader submitted under God. Yet he is bellicose and to show his rebellion he has supported Mr. Raila even against Godly counsel. And just like King Jehoshaphat saved his own skin and left King Ahab on his own, so will Mr. Kalonzo do to Mr. Raila at a point of no return for Mr. Raila to ever mount an effective campaign for a fifth trial. Considering he is also firing his last bullet. Just like King Ahab who never got to fight and got wounded early in the day, The NASA team is already wounded even as they put on a brave face. By the voting day Mr. Kalonzo’s support and his voting block will have withered, And Mr. Raila will be on his own. Just like King Jehoshapaht went home disappointed and empty handed, Mr. Kalonzo will not get the voting block he was hoping to inherit from Mr. Raila; because it’s already dissipated and Mr. Raila isn’t a father. Mr. Raila isn’t a father? Politicaly Mr. Raila has smothered a lot of leaders careers into oblivion. Except the few leaders who escaped when they had time, every other leader has been reduced to serving Mr. Raila rather than being mentored to serve the Nation. Any leader who didn’t support Mr. Raila in Nyanza or in any party Mr. Raila was in, was already at an advanced stage digging their political grave. The nature of a father is to sire, and mentor the next generation for posterity. But Mr. Raila is known for stifling his protégés which has resulted into a lot of leaders deserting him. Who is Mr. RAILA ODINGA? Mr. Raila isn’t your regular run-of-the mill folk. It is actually very sad that the reign of the Odinga family is closing on such a low note. This grief on me is as great as it was on King David when he was mourning the death of Abner. It is so sad because to the best of my knowledge the Nation didn’t benefit from the gift and call of the Odinga family. This cannot be blamed on politics because it is the responsibility of every servant to prepare themselves for the master’s use. 2Timothy2:21 So whoever cleanses himself [from what is ignoble and unclean, who separates himself from contact with contaminating and corrupting influences] will [then himself] be a vessel set apart and useful for honorable and noble purposes, consecrated and profitable to the Master, fit and ready for any good work. The father is gone, and the second generation is exiting the stage and on a dark note. Any one still wroth with Mr. Raila and thinking he is the embodiment of evil is dealing with personal issues. Boy I tell ya’ you have a huge log in your eye. The Odinga family is a unique gift to the nation given by God, and it’s rare. The Odinga’s were never meant to be the president by the vote of the people, and the presidency wasn’t shut up against them either. They had to follow a route of humility and submission to the presidency. A streak that wasn’t in their DNA. Although they had the opportunity to be president, they had to pay a price of submitting and honoring authority and be in their season just like King David. The one important thing that David excelled in and the Odinga’s failed in was teaching the people to honor the King and the ruling authority. Even as much as God had anointed him to be King, and King Saul was hunting him down to kill him, twice he refused to kill King Saul, and even restrained and protected him from his men. In contrast the Odinga’s have been ready to take over power by any, and all means. To understand The Odinga family we will look at the enabler anointing to the reigning authority or the Kingmakers anointing in the bible. Of interest is Abner and Joab who had the same anointing but were in different camps at the same time. But Abner was taken out, because this kind of anointing doesn’t tolerate questioning, divided loyalty, or any competition, threat to themselves or to the king. This tells you why Mr. Raila and his father could not tolerate any opposition. Dependent on the season and issues at hand, God chooses a king maker from the priesthood/religious - Prophet Samuel, Prophet Daniel, priest Jehoiada. – Military; David, Abner, Joab, Joshua. Political/social; - Jonathan, the elders, Joseph Influence and respect. Kingmakers are unique people because they command greater respect and influence than kings/presidents. It’s an anointing God puts on them to take care of the masses as the king takes care of the leadership business. With a single word or decision, kingmakers move the masses/nation and people fast, easily and quicker than a president with his executive order. 2samuel3:7 And Saul had a concubine, whose name was Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah: and Ishbosheth said to Abner, Wherefore hast thou gone in unto my father's concubine? 8 Then was Abner very wroth for the words of Ishbosheth, and said, Am I a dog's head, which against Judah do shew kindness this day unto the house of Saul thy father, to his brethren, and to his friends, and have not delivered thee into the hand of David, that thou chargest me to day with a fault concerning this woman? 9 So do God to Abner, and more also, except, as the Lord hath sworn to David, even so I do to him; 10 To translate the kingdom from the house of Saul, and to set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, from Dan even to Beersheba. 2samuel 2:8 But Abner the son of Ner, captain of Saul's host, took Ishbosheth the son of Saul, and brought him over to Mahanaim; 9 And made him king over Gilead, and over the Ashurites, and over Jezreel, and over Ephraim, and over Benjamin, and over all Israel. Who other than Mr. Raila commands such influence like Abner and Joab as all kingmakers in the bible did? Any time of the day he can easily call the nation to attention. Peace and chaos, rebellion or loyalty is at the fingertips of every kingmaker. The call of the Odingas In the whole of the bible I cannot think of a better example of persons whom the Odingas should have emulated in their kingmakers role before ascending to the presidency than Jonathan and Barak. Jonathan was the king in waiting after the reign of King Saul his father. But there is nobody who helped David as much as Jonathan. He was loyal, and protected David from being killed by his father. Unlike the Odingas who failed the loyalty and patience test, Jonathan was so secure that he was doing everything to Help David ascend to power and for him to be second in command. 1 samuel 23: 17 He said to him, Fear not; the hand of Saul my father shall not find you. You shall be king over Israel, and I shall be next to you. Saul my father knows that too. This loyalty to David brought a big strain in father-son relationship. Though it is not Jonathan who became second in command with David, Mephiboseth the son of Jonathan would later reap what his father sowed. Because Jonathan mindset as a kingmaker was rightly set for posterity, rather than self-interest. 2 samuel 9:1, 7, 13 And David said, Is there still anyone left of the house of Saul to whom I may show kindness for Jonathan’s sake? 7 David said to him, Fear not, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your father [grandfather], and you shall eat at my table always. 13 So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem, for he ate continually at the king’s table, [even though] he was lame in both feet. Barak the son of Ahinoam was a man who was so secure, that he recognized that it was not who got the glory, but it took everybody being in their rightful position to get national victory. He recognized Prophet Deborah, her prophetic office and role in the battle he was going to fight. He knew that the spiritual dimension was more important than the physical combat. Even when he was told victory would come through a woman, he was comfortable in his position of leading the physical combat. And as it turned out, God was using women big time in that battle. Judges 4: 5 Now Deborah, a [a]prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, judged Israel at that time. She sat under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim, and the Israelites came up to her for judgment. 6 And she sent and called Barak son of Abinoam from Kedesh in Naphtali and said to him, Has not the Lord, the God of Israel, commanded [you], Go, gather your men at Mount Tabor, taking 10,000 men from the tribes of Naphtali and Zebulun? 7 And I will draw out Sisera, the general of Jabin’s army, to meet you at the river Kishon with his chariots and his multitude, and I will deliver him into your hand? 8 And Barak said to her, If you will go with me, then I will go; but if you will not go with me, I will not go. 9 And she said, I will surely go with you; nevertheless, the trip you take will not be for your glory, for the Lord will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose and went with Barak to Kedesh Destiny of people and nations. This anointing is so powerful and effective that it instantly changes the destiny of persons, families and Nations. With a simple regular meal, samuel handed over the kingship to David. Within hours Priest Jehoiada had dethroned Queen Athaliah and installed a seven year old boy as King. It took only a simple disagreement for Abner to hand over the whole of Israel to King David. Of stolen elections. Has Mr. Raila Odinga elections been stolen? If it’s true then blame it on God. Psalms 18:26, 2 Samuel 3:9-10. The greatest threat and cause of downfall for all kingmakers is pride, personal interest or both. Two great examples of men who lost their positions and all because of sell interest is Gehazi and Judas Iscariot. Gehazi was poised to inherit one of the most unsual anointing from Prophet Elisha. But self-interest took hold of him and he forgot his kingmakers role. 2 kings 5:20 But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master spared this Naaman the Syrian, in not receiving from his hands what he brought. But as the Lord lives, I will run after him and get something from him. 21 So Gehazi followed after Naaman. When Naaman saw one running after him, he lighted down from the chariot to meet him and said, Is all well? 22 And he said, All is well. My master has sent me to say, There have just come to me from the hill country of Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets. I pray you, give them a talent of silver and two changes of garments. 23 And Naaman said, Be pleased to take two talents. And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags with two changes of garments and laid them upon two of his servants, and they bore them before Gehazi. 24 When he came to the hill, he took them from their hands and put them in the house; and he sent the men away, and they left. 25 He went in and stood before his master. Luke 27:3 When Judas, His betrayer, saw that [Jesus] was condemned, [Judas was afflicted in mind and troubled for his former folly; and] with remorse [with little more than a selfish dread of the consequences] he brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders, Abner forgot his place and went for his self-interest. 2 Samuel 3:6And it came to pass, while there was war between the house of Saul and the house of David that Abner made himself strong for the house of Saul. Abner knew all along where the kingdom belonged, but he held the nation hostage for two years. He paid dearly for this mistake because the vacuum he created allowed the rise of Joab. By the time he acknowledged the kingship of David, he had lost his position. The failure of Mr. Raila to support President Moi, Kibaki, and Uhuru is what has caused God to “steal” his wins. Just like Abner, he took care of his interest more than the kingdom. When King David was lamenting about the death of Abner, it was how such a mighty and important man was taken out in a quick surprise. Regardless of what Mr. Raila does even in this 2017 election he will be taken out on a technicality or a seemingly contentious issue. Or like Abner, he will/or he has already made a very insignificant mistake that will cost him dearly; and he will again be nursing the aftermath of a resounding defeat because it is God who is opposing him, the error is always realized too late to do anything. Remember his rave against the Supreme Court in 2013 for inadmissible evidence was because it was being filed late. Can Mr. Raila govern? It’s impossible. Because he never paid the price of being a president by being a loyal servant, he never developed a presidential spine. He will still operate under the kingmakers anointing, meaning he will be opposing as well as being opposed. The only kingmaker who becomes king is after they have paid the price. Mr. Raila hasn’t only failed to pay the price, but his season is way past. The price of a Kingmaker becoming king/president is so high. It takes the loyalty of an amour-bearer not to usurp powers. David was loyal in life and death. And his entry point was an amour-bearer for King Saul. Even after King Saul was dead he mourned and honored him and his son Jonathan. 2 samuel 1:11 Then David took hold on his clothes, and rent them; and likewise all the men that were with him: 12 And they mourned, and wept, and fasted until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the Lord, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword. 13 And David said unto the young man that told him, Whence art thou? And he answered, I am the son of a stranger, an Amalekite. 14 And David said unto him, How wast thou not afraid to stretch forth thine hand to destroy the Lord's anointed? 15 And David called one of the young men, and said, Go near, and fall upon him. And he smote him that he died. 16 And David said unto him, Thy blood be upon thy head; for thy mouth hath testified against thee, saying, I have slain the Lord's anointed. 17 And David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son: 18 (Also he bade them teach the children of Judah the use of the bow: behold, it is written in the book of Jasher.) 19 The beauty of Israel is slain upon thy high places: how are the mighty fallen! 20 Tell it not in Gath, publish it not in the streets of Askelon; lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph. 21 Ye mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew, neither let there be rain, upon you, nor fields of offerings: for there the shield of the mighty is vilely cast away, the shield of Saul, as though he had not been anointed with oil. 22 From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of Jonathan turned not back, and the sword of Saul returned not empty. 23 Saul and Jonathan were lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death they were not divided: they were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions. 24 Ye daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet, with other delights, who put on ornaments of gold upon your apparel. 25 How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! O Jonathan, thou wast slain in thine high places. 26 I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan: very pleasant hast thou been unto me: thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women. 27 How are the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished! The gift/anointing The gift and anointing of a kingmaker doesn’t work alone. That is why kingmakers usually fail when they try leadership if they haven’t paid the price. This anointing works when there is a King/president and a government or a government that is in the process of formation. This gift can’t work in absence of these two pillars. It is a gift that is course oriented, it is meant to rally support to a course. When it is not supporting, it becomes a disruptor. Articles and comedies have been made of Mr. Raila as president opposing the government, only for him to be reminded that he is the president. The key responsibility of Kingmaker anointing is to support the authority in office or the one in the process of taking over leadership. If Mr. Raila was to take over power today, he would immediately mortgage the Nation to other powers. That is the natural thing for a kingmaker to do. A king maker must by design and default submit to an authority, hence Mr. Raila would quickly get a foreign master and an authority to submit to and render support. Do not take for granted his dalliance with foreign powers, it is the natural thing for him to do. And since he has refused to acknowledge any other authority in Kenya, he can’t help himself but open up to other rulers. The moment Abner refused to acknowledge David he installed another; Ish-boseth as the King. When he differed with Ish-boseth he swiftly swung the Kingdom to David. Mr. Raila would immediately plunge the nation into confusion and turmoil. The rulers he would want to please are too numerous, with their divers conflicting interest. And the fact that he would be prone to all kinds of manipulation, the country would be taken over by foreign powers and diverse fiefdoms. THE ODINGAS AT WORK. It is sad that the Odinga’s calling to the nation has gone unutilized. Anyone who knows or reads the history of Kenya knows how important and momentous change swept upon the land when the Odingas rightfully served in their calling. Uhuru The last card the colonialist had to defeat the quest for freedom was division and installation of another leader. When Mr. Jaramogi Odinga refused and said no freedom without Kenyatta, the colonialist were completely defeated, and didn’t have a choice but to bow to the demands of a united people. Until Mr. Jaramogi differed with the president and withdrew his calling as a kingmaker the country had made great strides in development and growth. The moment he withdrew his calling to the nation and sought to be the president, it brought divisions and lack of direction in the nation just like Abner had held hostage the nation when supporting Ish-boseth. When Mr. Matiba and Mr. Rubia started agitating for multi-party, the KANU regime could contain them. The entry or Mr. Oginga changed everything and they were unstoppable until they differed when Mr. Odinga deserted his role as a kingmaker and desired the presidency for himself. Mr. Raila has followed the same script. He is famously remembered for his declaration of Kibaki Tosha. And that is all the Kingmaker requires to do. A simple declaration or stand and the whole country gets direction. Mr. Raila was also very instrumental in helping President Moi transfer power from the old KANU to the new youthful KANU. When Mr. Raila supported president Kibaki, the turn around and growth and development was magical, and the whole country was knit together in positive optimism. The moment He withdrew his calling to the nation and desired the presidency for himself, it resulted to divisions and stalemate that later led to him holding the nation hostage for months until the coalition government was formed. Mr. Raila would again hold the nation hostage for days when he contested the presidential result in Supreme Court in 2013. Elective post and political careers It’s been a known fact for all leaders in politics and elective positions and especially within the Luo Nation that, for one to win or have their careers take off, the only thing they needed was the support or blessings of the Odingas. Any endorsement by either the senior Odinga or the current Odinga was the only thing any leader wanted, and it would be clear to the other political contenders or other political parties who to do business with and who to dismiss. This support has made many men and women do crazy things to win Mr. Raila’s backing. Some have publicly sworn undying love for the man, others have cried in public, fought in public and others have died fighting for or defending Mr. Raila. Though many might not have known it’s a spiritual office or call upon Mr. Raila to build up men and women, they clearly knew his support is crucial and sought it by all means. Where is the church in this? This is a legitimate concern why the church doesn’t speak with clarity and in one voice. Or rather why is there confusion in the church? Although the Kenyan church has had its missteps it has nevertheless grown and it is taking root and ownership of its call on the land. The greatest differences the church struggled with hasn’t been the Kenyattas and Odinga contest, it was the Uhuru versus Kibaki contest. The split was really strong because every minister/prophet had heard right, that God had anointed both men to be president. However they couldn’t agree on the timing and season, and the order of who would be first. For the prophets/ministers who got it wrong, it’s a common mistake for the individual prophet or minister and not the church as a body. This mistake results from several reasons: God is a God of times and seasons. Times and seasons are in the hands of God. There is time for everything, and in every season and time God has different leaders for specific work. There isn’t a single leader that God raised(s) without specific instructions. This is the area a lot of prophets and ministers miss; the connection between the call/anointing and its season and the work to be done. Whereas it is true they are hearing from God, they fail to go a step further and ask or confirm concerning the season and work. David was anointed to be King as a youth, but it’s until when he was thirty that he became king. The anointing and preparation. The anointing and preparation for a leader do not always go hand in hand. It’s different for every leader. Some are called, then prepared before assuming power - David. Others are prepared and then anointed – Joshua. Whereas others the call and the preparation go hand in hand – Solomon. God is a God of order. God is not the author of confusion. 33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. When there are differing voices like it was in the Reign of Ahab; (1Kings 22:6-9) we must be guided by Numbers 23: 19 God is not a man that he should lie; neither the son of man that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?. It is the king’s responsibility, to discern and accept, even though he doesn’t like the message; who is speaking the Lords word? The most important lesson here is that, if a leader doesn’t heed God’s voice, God will indeed use his ministers, (though they are in error- sin) to hasten the removal of a leader who won’t hear and obey God. God uses patterns. All through the bible starting with Abraham, God has patterns of how he builds a nation. Moses was clearly instructed to build according to the patterns shown him on the mountain. This was a very, very important instruction to Moses, because you realize Moses had been educated at the highest institution, the best instructors in all sciences, the protocol of the first/Kings family, at government expense by the world super power of the day. Yet God told him to build by the pattern shown on the mountain, not the patterns he had been taught by men in Egypt. Every minister, and every leader has a responsibility to get their pattern. For a very long time we have used the lowest standards; the manifestos and 5, 8, 10 point plan. Time is come, and time is now for the nation to go higher and learn what God’s pattern for Kenya is. God is working. It is the responsibility of (A) the president to listen to God for himself and listen to his prophets that he may know what work God is doing at any one time and season. (b) it is the responsibility of every prophet and every minister to pray for the authorities, and listen to God to know what work God is doing at any one time and season, and most important which leaders or men/women God is using. Although Saul was the King on the throne, after two years reign it wasn’t him God was using to bring Victory in Israel, it was Prophet Samuel and then David. Although King Joash was made King, it was prophet Jehoiada that God was using. This is where a lot of ministers and prohets fail to discern. This leads me to the next point The wrong minister. In the same way God uses different leaders for different tasks, not every minister or prophet is called to minister, counsel, or even talk to the King/President. When Saul was anointed there were other prophets, in fact a school of prophets. 1 Samuel 10:5 After that you will come to the hill of God, where the garrison of the Philistines is; and when you come to the city, you will meet a company of prophets coming down from the high place with harp, tambourine, flute, and lyre before them, prophesying. But God was using only one – Prophet Samuel. During King Ahab’s reign, there were other prophets but God was using prophet Micaiah. 1kings 22: 6 Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall I go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king. 7 And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the Lord besides, that we might enquire of him? 8 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the Lord: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so. During David’s reign there were other prophets but God was using Nathan If a minister doesn’t submit to God and seek to know their mandate, they will prophesy the wrong thing and even arise against the Lords anointed. It happened against Moses when his own brother and sister arose against him. The same thing happened during King Ahab’s reign. God has singled prophets as the most prone to this error. (The reasons why the prophets, is a subject for another day.) Following are reasons for the existence of the wrong minister counselling the King or President. Witchcraft in the nation. When there is witchcraft in the nation there are many voices speaking. And confusion, deceit is always and almost the first option. The confusion and deceit which God used to remove King Ahab was as a result of him embracing witchcraft by marrying Jezebel.1 kings 16: 31 And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him. The problem of witchcraft is that it hardens the heart against God and human suffering. Even when one is being warned, they reject every warning and fight every effort to save them. Throughout the bible, God shows us patterns of how destructive witchcraft is to a person, a people, and nations. In numbers chapter 22, 23, 24, God speaks to King Ballak showing him patterns of what would befall nations, but even with all that information, he choose witchcraft. Baalam the prophet couldn’t leave witchcraft. King Ahab couldn’t change his mind. Even after 20 years of seeing Gods power Laban still clung to his witchcraft. Pharaoh couldn’t leave witchcraft even after all his gods were defeated and destroyed through the ten plagues. The pattern in all these examples and many more in the bible is that, with all the confusion in the land, God’s voice is clear; there is a presidential contender who is willing to listen and obey. The question is, who is the Lords prophet who is speaking what God is saying rather than seeking to please the presidential contenders? 1 kings 22:12 And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramothgilead, and prosper: for the Lord shall deliver it into the king's hand. 13 And the messenger that was gone to call Micaiah spake unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak that which is good. 14 And Micaiah said, As the Lord liveth, what the Lord saith unto me, that will I speak. For the purpose of wisdom, peace and harmony in the nation, it is good for the church to walk in wisdom (Mathew 10:16) and not endorse any candidate: but not so for the prophets. Prophets don’t have that luxury or latitude, they must speak. So, who is the prophet(s) called to speak to the contenders, will you rise up and decree the oracle of God? And let the chips fall where they may. But for the church as a corporate body the direction of prayer is easy. Pray that God who has the king's heart in his hand as the rivers of water, and turneth it whithersoever he will (Proverbs 21:1); Will like in the days of King Saul make the people’s hearts melt away from the leader he has rejected, and the chosen leader/s who instead of obeying God have offered unacceptable sacrifice to win the election. 1 samuel 23. Saul reigned one year; and when he had reigned two years over Israel, 2 Saul chose him three thousand men of Israel; whereof two thousand were with Saul in Michmash and in mount Bethel, and a thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin: and the rest of the people he sent every man to his tent. 3 And Jonathan smote the garrison of the Philistines that was in Geba, and the Philistines heard of it. And Saul blew the trumpet throughout all the land, saying, Let the Hebrews hear. 4 And all Israel heard say that Saul had smitten a garrison of the Philistines, and that Israel also was had in abomination with the Philistines. And the people were called together after Saul to Gilgal. 5 And the Philistines gathered themselves together to fight with Israel, thirty thousand chariots, and six thousand horsemen, and people as the sand which is on the sea shore in multitude: and they came up, and pitched in Michmash, eastward from Bethaven. 6 When the men of Israel saw that they were in a strait, (for the people were distressed,) then the people did hide themselves in caves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in high places, and in pits. 7 And some of the Hebrews went over Jordan to the land of Gad and Gilead. As for Saul, he was yet in Gilgal, and all the people followed him trembling. 8 And he tarried seven days, according to the set time that Samuel had appointed: but Samuel came not to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him. 9 And Saul said, Bring hither a burnt offering to me, and peace offerings. And he offered the burnt offering. 10 And it came to pass, that as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him, that he might salute him. 11 And Samuel said, What hast thou done? And Saul said, Because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that thou camest not within the days appointed, and that the Philistines gathered themselves together at Michmash; 12 Therefore said I, The Philistines will come down now upon me to Gilgal, and I have not made supplication unto the Lord: I forced myself therefore, and offered a burnt offering. 13 And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the Lord thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the Lord have established thy kingdom upon Israel forever. 14 But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the Lord hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the Lord hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the Lord commanded thee. 15 And Samuel arose, and gat him up from Gilgal unto Gibeah of Benjamin. And Saul numbered the people that were present with him, about six hundred men. That although the rejected and disobedient leaders have gathered multitudes around them, only a few men will be left with them. But God will give favor in the eyes of the people like he did with King David. That he shall be loved and accepted by the opposition too. 1Samuel18:16 But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he went out and came in before them. i.e that leader who caters for all the electorate regardless of what stronghold they are perceived to vote for. The church prayer is that God will release fear rather than favor for men to depart from the ones he has not chosen just like he did with Adonijah. 1kings 1: 49 and all the guests that were with Adonijah were afraid, and rose up, and went every man his way. Now let us hear the conclusion of the matter. Proverbs 16: The plans of the mind and orderly thinking belong to man, but from the Lord comes the [wise] answer of the tongue. 2 All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirits (the thoughts and intents of the heart). If one is of a differing opinion that God is giving President Uhuru the second term. Then pray that God who weighs the thoughts and intents of the heart will in his own ways which are not our ways show himself faithful as the electorate casts the lots, proverbs 16:33 will come true. Proverbs 16:33 the lot is cast into the lap, but the decision is wholly of the Lord [even the events that seem accidental are really ordered by Him]. Note. He has to let go the political pride and rebellion, return to the values of humility and service that God used to raise him up and work with the government of president Uhuru and DP Ruto. Once he does that he will open up the door of assuming office that was left vacant by Mr. Raila. The office of a senior respected statesman locally and globally. During the 2007/2008 dispute, Mr. Raila refused to embrace the bigger picture as urged by the former presidents and eminent persons to take over the mantle of a senior African statesman, or wait for the last term of President Kibaki. This is the vacant position that Mr. Kalonzo can seize and excel in if he is willing to do away with political pride and posturing. Return to his spiritual position of humble servant leader and work with the government of President Uhuru and DP Ruto.
