Victoria Nthunya Mutiso: Prominent Clinical Psychologist, Mental Health Researcher Shot Dead
Shock and grief have swept across Kenya following the fatal shooting of prominent clinical psychologist and mental health researcher Dr. Victoria Nthunya Mutiso in Nairobi.
Dr. Mutiso was shot dead on the morning of July 29, 2026, in the Upper Hill area near Kenyatta National Hospital after gunmen riding on a motorcycle reportedly ambushed the taxi she was travelling in. Investigators believe she had requested an Uber ride shortly before the attack, although the motive remains unknown.
The investigation has now been taken over by homicide detectives from the DCI Headquarters, working alongside forensic experts. Detectives say they are pursuing all available leads and following up on persons of investigative interest as they seek to establish what happened and bring those responsible to justice
