Trina Njoroge to run for Miss California USA Raised $8000 for her Angels Forgotten Charity in Kenya
My name is Trina Njoroge and I’ve been given the opportunity to run for Miss California USA. Miss California USA is a pageant that selects the representative for the state of California in the Miss USA pageant.
This pageant is part of Miss Universe Organization. I’ve always had a passion for pageantry. I started out with Miss Teen Bakersfield (my hometown) and ran 2 years in a row…winning second runner up,peoples choice award, and most photogenic award.I took a break from pageantry to focus on school and my parents informed me about Face of Kenya USA 2015.
Face of Kenya is a charity pageant that focuses on giving back to the Kenyan community.
I ended up winning the title of Face of Kenya USA 2015 and with the support of my family and friends, I raised up to $8,000 USD for my charity known as Angels Forgotten.
Which is a school back in Kenya for kids who are orphans due to the epidemic of hiv/aids.
I was able to expand the school, renovate their campus as well as build a well closer to the school so it won’t be a commute to collect water.
I was given a lot of exposure and publicity from doing Face of Kenya which humbled me to the fullest. I wanted to continue to help others while doing what I love but needed a break from the public.
During those three years,I decided to go back to nursing school and I’m proud to say I’m a licensed psychiatric technician nurse.
With the experience I’ve gained working in mental health and taking some time off modeling/pageantry, I wanted to share and advocate for the youth once again.
The process of being accepted to the pageant was very long and intimidating.
I’ve done the application process, phone interviews, and in person interviews to be chosen to represent the city Hacienda Heights and run for Miss California USA.
Now that the news is out in the open I’m happy to announce I’ll be sponsoring/supporting Young Minds Advocacy Organization… which is a nonprofit organization founded to address the number one health issue facing young people and their families—unmet mental health needs.
I’m very excited to share my journey with everyone.
This is not for who wins the title but for helping those who are less fortunate and being the voice for those unheard.
The pageant will be held in San Gabriel,CA January 25th 2020
